The Nard needs a new coach. His father is an idiot of epic proportions.

His scheduling has been problematic in 2013. He needs some time off to reevaluate the Nardness of his game.

He needs motivation. I don't think he cares anymore.

And finding a new coach will give him that change and motivation he desperately needs.

How?

He'll just get annoyed by the pushing coach and fire him. I think he is keeping his dad as coach just because it is easy.

If the Big 4 retire now, that might be good motivation. Otherwise...

How do you know he'll get annoyed? The Nard has impeccable talent, but lacks a certain kind of drive, especially in the coaching box. A new addition to his team can solve that. Someone needs to make him realise that Tomic is in a killer position right now and can already start winning titles and causing vast disruption and disarray at semi-big to big tournaments. A change can be instrumental for Tomic right now.

Re: Tomic on clay 2013

Maybe Magnussen should again be in his box?

BTW has anyone made a gif of that celebration?

Re: Tomic on clay 2013

Anything is better than what is transpiring now. Say what you want about his inability to play well on clay, his performance against Juan had no effort and no intent. I sincerely hope Hewitt can assist the Nard in the next few years. Lleyton's tennis IQ is off the roof. Besides, he needs a true patriot in his corner.

Re: Tomic on clay 2013

I agree that the big problem is that Bernard himself doesn't care really. He keeps talking about working harder and playing more consistently, yet his actions and level of play show otherwise. I also agree this is why Bernard keeps dad around because he knows he wouldn't handle the demands of a professional coach. I think one of the articles from the off-season had a quote from Pat Cash saying because of his reputation, Bernard would find it hard to get a top coach anyway.

I doubt anything will change soon considering these same criticisms have been around for his entire career basically. That's what I meant earlier by saying it's frustrating to see this continue from him/his team. It's like he's deliberately wasting his career.

He's going to lose QF points from pulling out of Munich, but I guess it would be unlikely he would have defended those anyway with the way he's playing now.

Re: Tomic on clay 2013

Tbh I would find it hard to find motivation too. Mens tennis has just stagnated, nothing is changing.

The higher ranked players are all the same, even close to his best he still loses to guys like Gasquet, and there are no new youngsters that would push him. ATP is just boring right now.

And you know what? I can't see that changing in the foreseeable future.
