Re: Tomic on hardcourt 2013

Every season the same story, only has good results 2 or 3 weeks out of the whole entire year. Then he says with a straight face how he's close to being top 10 or whatever. Keep wasting your career, Bernard.

Re: Tomic on hardcourt 2013

Bernie did well to hang in there. Lopez gifted him a lifeline in dropping serve when 64 and a break up serving for the match. Tomic took it gratefully and played well to force the 3rd set.
He had break points early in the 3rd set but good serving from Lopez denied him. Then Bernie saved break points to stay with Lopez, getting it to the tie-break. Lopez was the better in the tie-break, going on for the win.

Much better display by Bernie but imo still too much pushy tennis, especially in the fore-court, when he could be closing out the game.

Re: Tomic on hardcourt 2013

Marchenko, Struff, Stakhovsky - An unmotivated Tomic could lose to all of them.
It will be interesting to see which "Bernie" turns up to play.

Re: Tomic on hardcourt 2013

After coming across some pictures, I seriously doubt Bernard's ability to ever mature or become more professional when his own 'team' engages in the same off-court behavior that only negatively affects his career. He has absolutely no proper guidance or positive influence around him regardless of whether or not his dad is around. How does he have any chance when the people hired to help him are actually partaking in activities that only hurt his career? Lost cause...

Agree - but if he can just do enough to hang in the top 100 until he matures, until full frontal lobe development takes place (hopefully) at say 25 years old, maybe he will be a chance.
His sponsors must be tearing their hair out.

Re: Tomic on hardcourt 2013

Who knows where he'll be in a few years. You could say the game is already passing him by as his contemporaries have all made strides this year while he has stagnated. What makes it worse is that a lot is due to his (and dad's) own doing, not as if he has been injured or something.

But seeing pictures of his fitness trainer, whose job is to make sure Bernard's in top condition, out partying with him...during tournaments no less just shows how much is wrong with Bernard's situation.

Way to totally throw away your career...
