Maybe you're right, maybe Zhang has gotten better. The assumption was based on his records against the young players I follow. My last memory of him was a consecutive losses to a college player who recently turned pro.

Oh I almost forgot. I saw his doubles match last week against Sandgren and Williams. He was targeted quite a bit or rather nobody wanted to hit to Sock

made a mistake,he defeated Richard Gasquet in Beijing, not Shanghai...

Zhang improved a lot since coached by Frenchman Guillaume Peyre, former coach of Baghdatis and Gasquet(partly why he can beat Gsaquet).

and he did win over Reynolds in straight sets.

anyway,i hope ryan can win this match.

Win or lose, I just wanna see some fire in him. He is so emotionally flat these days; kinda sad to see him in this state.

Re: 2013 Cheering Thread

63 64 consecutive wins in quite some time Was up 4-0 in the 2nd set, but lost a little focus + Zhang playing better. Nice recovery at the end to close it out. Wayne Odesnik next, good luck.

Re: 2013 Cheering Thread

Ryan will need to bring his A game tomorrow b/c Odesnik will be motivated due to their "little incident" last time.

Their last meeting was in this tournament (Savannah) 2 years ago where Odesnik won 6-3 5-7 6-2. They had a quarrel in that match (not sure how familiar you are with the Odnesik Doping Scandal).

Quote:
And it’s the same Odesnik who beat Delic in Savannah, then played Ryan Harrison and got into an argument with him. “First of all, no one trusts you,’’ Harrison said during the match, according to the Savannah Morning-News. Sports Illustrated said people sitting near the court heard Harrison call Odesnik “a weasel’’ and “an embarrassment to American tennis.’’Link
Odesnik is probably the best active American claycourter and he seems to be in a good form. He will likely be the favorite tomorrow. But he may be tired after playing so much, so Ryan might have a chance.

Re: 2013 Cheering Thread

I remember Ryan called him "weasel" or something like this.
ya, Odesnik plays lots of clay challengers and could be quite dangerous. Ryan has to keep calm and play well tomorrow.

Re: 2013 Cheering Thread

61 63 solid from Ryan, not so much from Odesnik. Plays a tired Ramirez-Hidalgo next. Let's see if Ryan can take advantage.
