Moya pulls out

story on Eurosport (sorry only German version so far):
http://www.eurosport.de/home/pages/V...to533862.shtml

Apparently he can't put any weight? or run with his ankle, and it's giving him a lot of pain, so he has pulled out. James Blake will now meet a lucky loser (don't they replace the seed at all??).

Re: Moya pulls out

I don't think they replace the seed this close to the tournament. I remember JCap benefiting from such a thing during last year's USO when Venus pulled out (I think).

Re: Moya pulls out

I could of predicted this. Oh well, just let youre self heal Moya. Blake now actually has a chance of getting past the 1st rd.

This is saaaad news for Carlos because he was playing well coming into the tournament.

As a fan, the number of injury related withdrawals and the players who are still trying to compete with injuries is starting to get to me.

Trying to stay positive...

Re: Moya pulls out

I don't think they can change the draw after the match in question was put on the schedule.
If they did, than the 9th seed (Grosjean) should replace Moya, the 17th seed (Verkerk) replaces Grosjean, the player ranked after the last seed (who's that?) replaces Verkerk, and the lucky loser gets into that slot in the draw. This means no less than 4 changes in the draw, and I don't see that happen...
So it's more likely the next lucky loser will play Blake instead of Moya.

Re: Moya pulls out

man...sad sad news for Moya, he was playing fantastic tennis. I saw him nn TV for TATA Open, he was playing absolutely great there and I honestly thought he had a great chance in AO. So disappointing..

Re: Moya pulls out

This is very sad indeed.

"I wanted to try everything to be at the Australian Open. But at the moment I have simply only unbelievable pain," Said Moya.
