Nice. Now I wish I had renewed my tickets. Eh, I can take it day by day and see. Money is very tight this year.

Only those who risk going too far can possibly find out how far you can go.

There's a Living Social deal for some sessions:
https://www.livingsocial.com/events/...ticket-package

Also, on tournament website, discounts for buying with Citi cards.

The Citi card discount is a good deal if you buy directly from the box office via phone or in person on site. With the TicketMaster fees, it doesn't make much difference. I got a $20 ticket for Sat. and ended up paying $32 after all the fees. Of course my CITI card was maxed out so I couldn't use it. LOL.

Who's Going?

Hi there!

I'm in Pitssburgh PA atm. In couple hours I will head to Washington where I will stay for 2 or 3 days. I was planning to spent 1 day on Citi Open yet I'd rather wait for order of play release before chosing a day. Do you by any chance know If there is possibility of buying tickets in the day of competition with cash? If there is - on what time ticket offices are open?

Do they have traning courts available for fans?

Also website says that session starts on 4 PM on Monday. What does it mean? there are no matches held on centre court before 4 PM? how about other courts. I mean I'm suprised because It's usually 11 AM or noon.

I will be extremly grateful for any reply.

Yes: the on-site box office usually opens two hours or so before play, but here's the exact schedule:

Practice courts? Yes, players practice on the practice courts (& the match courts when there are no matches being played).

Matches start at 4:00 p.m. Monday to Thursday & earlier on the final weekend. See the above link for the full schedule.

Re: Who's Going?

Judging from years past, they all start at 4pm until Friday & Saturday, which will start earlier (noon? I don't remember). It's hot and muggy in DC in the summer, so they start later than most tournaments, but they also can play late (after midnight, especially if it rains, usually a good chance of evening thunderstorms). I think they only open the gates an hour or two before play starts, might have to look at the tourney website for more info. Yes, you can buy tickets at the box office or on Ticketmaster then pick up at Will Call. If you are coming from Metro, they have shuttle busses to bring you to the site (be aware of when Metro STOPS running if matches run late). If you drive, you can pay to park in the field (barring rain or it fills up) or you will be directed to Rock Creek Park, which has different locations to park at and shuttle busses will take you up to the site (remember where you park!). I sure hope they've improved the food choices, but if they've been like in years past, they are overpriced and it tastes bad (cardboard pizza).

I don't have a Citi card anymore (they wanted to start charging me a fee for keeping it since I never used it, forget that). I guess I'll have to see what other options there are or if I can get in touch with a friend of mine who has box seats, sometimes she doesn't go. I'll take a ticket donation, no problem.

Only those who risk going too far can possibly find out how far you can go.

Re: Qualifying Draw

I went Saturday with friends. they wanted to sit in the stadium court and watch the two matches. I on the other hand wanted to walk around and check out the sites.
I like how they have added the new grandstand on the spot of the old practice courts and put the new practice courts over by the old grandstand. They now have plenty of viewing space and clear views to the players while they practice.
Of course viewing the woman players is a bonus and something different for a change.
I watched Mitchell Frank lose to Berrer with a huge and vocal UVA fanbase calling out every point. It was a tight match with a tiebreak deciding the first set and a third that went to 7-5. Frank lost though which made it that much worse to see Jarmere Jenkins lose to Gabashvili in straight sets with not a single one of those vocal UVA students left around to cheer him on the whole time.
I saw the end of Evan King's match and saw him lose. He is another young player still in school (Michigan) who is going to complete college but who has had some success as a junior playing in the junior tournaments at the US Open, The French and Wimbledon. All the college guys seem like really nice and down to earth guys too.
The funny thing is how small the tennis world seems to be. I watched my instructor play last month in a small tournament at Maryland's College Park Tennis center. This was my first time there. I met a few teaching pros while there casually to support my friend (I helped him warm up by hitting with him oncourt an in the bubble) and darn if I didn't run into one of those very teaching pros watching some of the practice at the CitiOpen.
I will probably not get a chance to go this week unfortunately as I have to cover late at work for coworkers on vacation, but I always enjoy my yearly outing to the Fitzgerald Tennis Center.
