Re: Donald Young

DY will have to play qualies at Toronto and Cincy. Both are two-round draws, i.e., you win two matches to make the MD. I think Toronto will be easier for DY to qualify. He will still have his current ranking when the draw is made, and thus will be seeded. So Q1 will be winnable. Then maybe he will get lucky in Q2. Cincy will be much tougher to qualify.

As for DY-SJ, Johnson followed up his win over DY by losing to Sock & 1st rd in LA. I think SJ was lucky to draw DY 1st rd cause of the obvious streak related lack of confidence.

DY also lost in straights to Jamie Baker, a career Challenger level player. The loss to SJ doesnt mean he should have gone to college at all. Im pretty sure we wont see SJ making a deep run at the US Open this summer beating seeds like DY did last yr.
Yes, he is back with Prince http://www.ajc.com/sports/olympics-b...g-1481247.html (near the end)

Am I only one who thinks Young will beat Chardy today?

Sorry for commenting late. As I write this the match has already begun and it is 4-3 in the first set. I hope your thoughts are right. DY has a better chance today than he did against Seppi last week. He almost has a fair chance of winning, but I still have to pick Chardy.

DY did win the first set 6-3, raising hopes of an end to his epic losing streak. Once he lost the second set 7-6, I figured he would fold as usual when the going gets tough. Bingo. Bagel.

Streak is now 16. Next week, I don't know if he'll plays qualies. If so, he won't qualify. Then Winston-Salem. Then US Open. By then the streak will be 18 or 19. Then back to Challengers. By year end, he'll be ranked 200, more or less. I don't know when (or if) he'll play another ATP match to continue the quest to break Spadea's record. If he languishes in Challengers, I won't be surprised if he retires by the end of 2013.

He'll be able to get DA to the 1st three tourneys after the US Open, then his Bangkok pts fall off. If he doesnt earn any pts between now & then he's gonna plummet in the rankings.

Re: Donald Young

Another Winnable match. Still won't win though. I got burned once picking him, not again.

I feel bad for DY but if he keeps going like this, he won't be able to break the record at least lol.

Re: Donald Young

Lazyking, at least you have learned from experience. Never pick DY to win. Levine in 3 sets.

Re: Donald Young

Just saw a DY interview from Cinci where he said that Roger Smith is now part of his coaching team. Hopefully he sticks with Smith for awhile, at least until he re-establishes himself on tour.
