Re: 2017 Tournaments Thread

In recent years, Nadal has not traditionally played Rotterdam and Acapulco. Very interesting that he opted to skip Buenos Aires/Rio to play HC.

Re: 2017 Tournaments Thread

Hi, @Tennis4Lyf , I don't mind at all. It's not like I've brought any luck to dear Rafa.
Let's hope he stays healthy and can have a great season next year. Dang it I NEED another AO, FINALLY!

P. S. Sorry I haven't been around much lately, I'm busy with other stuff but I'm still here for our Rafa, and always will be.

Epic movies, like brokeback mountain, are seldom found in the industry or worthy for the mainstream viewer. As often as I have watched the clips of this movie, I always find something more to it. For one, the gay stuff doesn't enter the picture for me, only the dimension of the highest love I have ever witnessed in life or on film.

Merry Christmas to my fellow rafa fans. Sorry that I can't rep you as I seem to have problem with repping? Coz when I pressed the "rep button", nothing come out? : aparty:

Re: 2017 Tournaments Thread

Uhh Mimi, I still cannot rep you either.
Merry Christmas to you all!
Rafa and Marc Lopez won the Spanish Championships in doubles played at Rafa's Academy in Manacor. And Carlos Moya joined his coaching team which seems great news, Carlos helped Rafa when he came on tour and they know each other very well obviously. So hopefully the new season will be good. Good luck to Rafa in Abu Dhabi and Brisbane. I hope to catch some action but I probably won't post much as I have a planned surgery in the hospital on January 3rd and I haven't been doing too well.

sorry that you are not doing well at the moment but don't worry, your surgery will be a good one. Speedy recovery after that

Some insight from a hitting patner, nothing sensational but confirms what we already know - Roger is a bit more 'distant' and Rafa more approachable, warm and a shy as we know him.

Re: 2017 Tournaments Thread

Rafa already started match play in Abu Dhabi and beat Tomas Berdych 6-0 6-4. Raonic in the semis tomorrow.
Here the news link for those who missed it in the year-end hassle.

RAFA REIGNS SUPREME WHILE GOFFIN GOES BIG ON DAY ONE OF MUBADALA WORLD TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIP ? MWTC

Quote:
The second match came in the form of the World No.9 and No.10 – Rafael Nadal and Tomas Berdych. Abu Dhabi favourite, Rafa returned with a gigantic roar from the local crowd, and didn’t disappoint. Fans inside the International Tennis Centre were cheering wildly as Nadal marked his territory on the tournament, shutting out Berdych 6-0 in the first set in just 26 minutes. The Czech power hitter found his footing at the start of the second set but it wasn’t enough, as the Spanish sensation showed no signs of giving up his serve or his title, finishing it 6-4.

At his first tournament back and with a thrilling first win from it, Nadal added: “It’s difficult to imagine playing a first set like this after a long time without competing, but it happened and I enjoyed it a lot. I’m excited to be back at the competition and practicing hard every day to improve. I felt that I was quick to save balls, in a great rhythm and created opportunities with my forehand which is one of my main goals at the beginning of this season.

Looking ahead to his semi-final match against World No. 3 Milos Raonic, which will see a repeat of last year’s final, Nadal commented: “He’s improved a lot on the baseline and his service is unbelievable. It’s a match where I will need to play at my best and be very focused in every moment with my serve, and then hopefully I can play a great match.

thanks Maria for the article. Even though I don't know and never meet him, can still see that he is a nice guy from his matches coz he always treat the ball kids nicely and hold their hands while walking out and the fans too (hard to describe with my bad Eng ). I mean, if you observe closely, you can find it, those little gestures he showed to others showed that he is a polite and nice guy. Yes I know his biggest shortcoming: slow in serving..... but no way he is as evil as his haters described him

Don't worry about the reps Mimi.
I don't know how you can give out so many reps in the first place but thank you for all the reps you've given me.

Hi Ladies and fellow Rafa fans.

Wish you all a happy new year. I have little time for MTF as I am on vacation. I hope you all have a nice time. Rafa won 2 matches. He starts another year with exhos.

Re: 2017 Tournaments Thread

Happy New Year everyone!
Rafa won the Abu Dhabi exho beating David Goffin in the final 6-4 7-6 (5).
The win in the semis vs Raonic 6-1 3-6 6-3 was really good.

So the start has been good but the AO won't be easy.
