Awful seems a bit harsh. Never beaten Ferrer indoors, lost just three days ago & beats Ferrer losing five games. Plays a point 5-3 30-0*, other players dream of playing. <No problem with movement!

Apparently Rafa had some stomach bug last week. Hopefully that was the reason not to play his best last week. I remember Rafa had food poisoning at the WTF in 2011 when he was trashed by Federer in RR 6:3 6:0 as well.

Keep calm, and Vamos Rafa!

He needs to step up for SF and F. I believe he can beat Wawrinka/Berdych at this level.

Good to see Rafa winning easily. One win away from Year End No. 1 or one loss of Djokovic. I really think Roger will have his chances tonight.
I won't be able to even follow the match tomorrow as Rafa and Wawrinka are playing first. I will be in the plane that time- hopefully when I land i get to know that Rafa won and is No. 1 of 2013!
Vamos Rafa!

6-3 6-2 if I play an awful match. Had to reply this, won't bother finding the pic.

And as you could read from the presser I posted, one journalist asked about the stomach bug.

Where's Shawshank flying? Anyway, have a nice vacation.

one more, two more, three more

Rafa! Rafa! Rafa!

Epic movies, like brokeback mountain, are seldom found in the industry or worthy for the mainstream viewer. As often as I have watched the clips of this movie, I always find something more to it. For one, the gay stuff doesn't enter the picture for me, only the dimension of the highest love I have ever witnessed in life or on film.

Re: Paris AMS & London WTF 2013 - A quest for immortality against the odds!

I'm as delighted as the rest of his fans who post throughout the year here will no doubt be, re. No.1! Finally sane again, well to a point at least. I've been calmer watching Rafa play major finals than I was today! I was the male version of Britney'07 this afternoon.

2nd set Rafa 3-1 30-30 - Why no challenge? One of the best shots of the week, & one of tennis' most difficult to pull off. Rafa was robbed big time. Three balls weren't challenged by both players 2-1 Rafa-Stan, all three called incorrectly. Players should go with their gut instincts instead of what their support boxes think.
Rafa did a studio interview & gave post match insight after his match yesterday & today on sky, UK. It's all kinds of awesome watching Rafa, watching Rafa on a screen no more than a metre from it, & a bit surreal. His accent is tremendous.

Great stuff Rafa!

Re: Paris AMS & London WTF 2013 - A quest for immortality against the odds!

Came into WTF expecting nothing of him winning the title, I think Novak has it in the bag but I just wanted him to seal number 1 and he's done that, I'm delighted and it just caps an incredible year, lets hope he can go beyond my expectations here but if not we know it's not his favourite and I just can't wait for AO 2014.

A result that maintains the integrity of the rankings

Hopefully Rafa plays with a bit more freedom for the rest of the week. Needs to be far more aggressive with the FH if he wants to have a shot at the title. Serve needs to pick up too.

Re: Paris AMS & London WTF 2013 - A quest for immortality against the odds!

I loved how started flattening out his inside out forehand late in the 2nd set. That's the shot he is going to need if he wants to win this. I remember during the Indian Wells final, he used that brilliantly.

Congrats to YE No1.

Thanks for the report. I only saw glimpses and had to go to the theatre.
Must've been a tight match, 2 TBs. Wawa's in a good form.
Yes I'm relieved he has his number 1 ranking. Rafa seems to surprise me when I'm not expecting much (like the USO) so who knows, he might fight for the title yet.

Rafa pointing out he should have hit his bh crosscourt & not hit long going down the line, 4-4/2nd set. Point were Rafa hit the brilliant - 'a little Jimmy Connors overhead forehand smash' according to Mark Petchey.

Tried hard to get Rafa's grimace, when he was watching himself celebrating a winning point, failed.
Annie Leibovitz' job's safe.
