Re: Brasil Open -- Vamos Rafa! def. Joao Souza 6-3; 6-4

I think Rafa will skip one of the US Masters.

And he looked very unsure on court - way too rusty. No chances to beat Almagro in my opinion. Not mentioning other top 10 players in upcoming months

shit, Almargo is there?

Rafa! Rafa! Rafa!

Epic movies, like brokeback mountain, are seldom found in the industry or worthy for the mainstream viewer. As often as I have watched the clips of this movie, I always find something more to it. For one, the gay stuff doesn't enter the picture for me, only the dimension of the highest love I have ever witnessed in life or on film.

No way he beats Almagro here, but I'm confident it will be different story in Acapulco. Clay in Acapulco is exactly as Rafa would like it to be. This Sao Paulo is way to quick.
I think match against Souza looked like a match in indoor hard tournament. Easy holds from both and then one break each set. Rafa was really rusty, so I expect similar match today with a scoreline 7/5 6/4 or sth like this.
Vamos Rafa!

Re: Brasil Open -- Vamos Rafa! def. Joao Souza 6-3; 6-4

Some sentences from press conference:

"Today I felt good," Nadal said. "It's not perfect yet, I don't know when I'll be at 100 percent. It was acceptable. I'm confident that as the days and weeks go by I'll recover what's still missing."

"I was more or less OK - I'm in a process of recovery," said Nadal.

"The important thing is to have regularity, to be able to compete. I am confident that with the days and weeks, I will regain what I am missing."

"The problem is not the court. The problem is the ball which is very bad," he added.

"It's the fault of the ATP for allowing play with a [tennis] ball of poor quality. The ATP does not have the capacity or the infrastructure to be able to analyse the conditions before the tournament begins."

What balls are they playing with?

I'm afraid the indoor factor will be decisive this weeks more than real clay tennis...

Yes, but in this case I can't see David winning his first tournament that he is playing in 6 months. He can win against Almagro and then lose to Montanes or Bolelli

Hard to believe that Alund is the player waiting for Rafa in the semis...

Re: Brasil Open -- Vamos Rafa! def. Joao Souza 6-3; 6-4

I didn't think I could admire Rafa more. This was like the good old days of watching Seles (when not playing well) win on heart alone.
Needs to spend a week on his backhand & 2nd serve and please Jimmy - start to entertain the notion of decreasing serve speed to up 1st serve percentage.
Commie - 'Rafa looked tentative last week & in his first match here.' Seems to be under the impression it's July 2012 and Rafa having won 4/5 clay events, well 4/4 proper clay events, is playing Gstaad!
