That's when the clowns took over the circus with no chance of return because moderators and admins did a U-turn they can't come back from.
Oh, what was the U-turn?

The U-turn...I don't have much time because I'll have to dash out to a work party in a couple of minutes.

Basically, admins and moderators decided to get a bit tougher on the personal attacks, the insulting nicknames for players, the blind insults to posters,...
Many people on MTF protested because of "freedom of speech" (as if that isn't limited in the real world, as if the real world doesn't have rules on what you can do and say ...the viewpoint by the clowns: "if you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen" or translated: "either join us with our funny insults or get out". Heaven forbid they'd have to think before they write, poor things. ) and the danger of inconsistency and subjectivity (who is going to decide what's insulting or not? Fair point).

Result: that rule was withdrawn and the moderators, fed up with the insults and accusations going their way, became more lenient than ever before.

It doesn't surprise me. The road to hell is paved with good intentions, and I should know.

I'm so glad Rafa and Ernests have no chance of meeting in this AO Ernests has won only one match in 6 attempts at the AO But in a recent interview he said that he's feeling great and he's looking forward to the new season, something he has never done before. I was a bit surprised reading that.

Yeah, business only. I don't know how long, it hasn't been finalized yet, a week at the most, maybe 3 days.

I don't remember where you live. Is it Lucerne? Anyway, I have no idea how much free time I would have so it's better not to plan anything. I'd be happy to come and say hi sometime though

We're a bit more to the west, where they speak French. It's Lausanne, the Olympic Capital, also the town of Wawamug it's like 2 hours by train from Zurich

At least now you know Evita, 2-hour train ride is do-able, sometime hopefully, when you plan it.

Re: Rafachat - Vol. 80: Another great year for our great champion! :D

I find it amusing that Evita and Maria laugh at JM's "a bit." I realize that for Switzerland two hours is almost from one side of the country to the other.

But for me, living here in the geographically huge Canada, two hours is nothing. Nothing! If I were to drive for two hours, I would still be nowhere near the border with another province. I would only be in the next big city from mine.

My second university was a 7-hour drive from my home city; now that was getting to be a bit of a drive. Really, though, on a map, even that seven-hour trip covers a tiny fraction of my own province, let alone my country.

(Edit: In that two-hour time span, though, I could be in the US.)
