Hilde, I've heard these worries about the money in our banks and I agree that some of the money is definitely dirty but I don't see why joining the euro zone would increase the risk of any problems. On the contrary, our banks will have an even tighter control now.

You already went through the bank crisis in 2008 when the Parex Bank was taken over by the state, no? I've heard that now the Latvian banks are in better shape and not so full of the Russian criminal money.
Anyway, let us know how the first euro days are going. You have more 'normal' exchange rate but here many people spent all their first money in euros and needed social services to help them afterwards, adult people but hey, I do idioitic things too, including with my money so I'm hardly the one to judge.
