I am not fighting with you. Merely expressing a different opinion I just don't think that the whole world should know the European geography off by heart.

Neither Americans nor Europeans would generally do well at all naming provinces in China or countries in Africa, and these will be by far the most populous regions of the planet in another 20 or 30 years. Asia already is.

I admit that not knowing African countries is shameful but provinces in China? Really?

Who would have thought a geography discussions would bring scoobs back

But yes, by the way, there's a difference between locating a country on a map and simply naming it. Even if you just listen to the news occasionally you should be able to name a lot of countries. I could name at least 20 countries in Africa off the top of my head even if I can't put them on a map. That's why it's mind-boggling that some people can't name even 15 countries in Europe. I mean, it doesn't even have to be history or the news, you can learn a lot of geography simply by following a sport.

*hope you've noticed I agreed with you - now expecting Hilde's a** licking comment *
Europe is becoming less and less significant in the world.

LOL, we have an expression - "it's like Chinese for me" meaning it's something completely not understandable, I guess that's why I'd never try learning Chinese. I have a relative that's studied Chinese, not that it'd help. She's not a very close relative.

Why do you do unashamed a**licking when you're aware that it's a**licking?

Europe was once viewed as the center of the world and that's clearly no longer the case but to suggest that it's becoming less and less significant in the world is ludicrous.

"It's all Greek to me" is our saying. Not Chinese.

Hi Melanie! I can read the Greek alphabet so it wouldn't be too bad for me. Studied ancient Russian and Greek.

Our saying is "it's like the Chinese ABC" (kā ķīniešu ābece) which is funny because the Chinese has no ABC.

I love the Teddy Bear Toss! A few teams do that but I've never seen it go on for so long! The stuffed animals then get donated to charities. I think it's great.

I was thinking of Mike and Linda the other day especially because of the talk again of Scotland separating.

Oh, and there are also results of British people trying to identify American states. The results were generally dismal. I assume, however, that there were at least some people who did so well (in both cases - identifying the states and the countries of Europe) that their results were not included. Here's the site:
