Re: Rafachat - Vol. 80: Always by Rafa's side on the way to clay & hard court dominan

Another royal wedding this weekend, in Luxemburg this time.

Andreea, do you like her dress?

I'm not keen on it. Too much lace for starters .

Well, it's a nice enough dress IMO, tastes differ.
I know I'm not A. though so...

Is there anything more boring than those royal sagas?

For some reason they fascinate some people, like the daily soaps.
You master photographer! How great it is to be multi-talented. Any news songs planned with Eva?

I absolutely loved her look

You can compare her with the CP Stephanie, her s-i-l. She also wore an Elie Saab lace dress but she got completely drowned by it. Claire has enough personality to pull it off, she wears the dress, not the dress wears her

And Hilde is keen of the Lux royals, they are close family

We'll probably work on some music when Winter comes and we can't shoot as often

I'm picturing Smithers and Mr. Burns from The Simpsons when reading Maria's smooching up to JM here.

Just googled Stephanie's dress because I can't recall it. Ugh, ugly as well.

I admit that this dress is better but still...I'm not keen on so much lace on a dress. Probably because Belgian lace is a big thing but it's viewed as old-fashioned over here, so for me: lace is linked with grandmas draping little lace table cloths over side-tables, coffee tables, televisions,...

I see you really have been reading my European adventures

Waffles I don't DISlike, but I'm not a big fan and definitely won't miss them now I've left.

As for Belgian chocolate, the main thing there is that SO many of them are full of hazelnut praline and I REALLY hate hazelnut praline no matter where it is made. Four years ago in Antwerp I bought a box and nearly all of them were hazelnut praline. This time I was more picky and chose ones that appealed to me more and they were lovely
I still prefer Dutch Droste chocolate though

I also love 'drop'

Speculoos is not to be disliked. There are different kinds of speculoos/speculaas, though. The sweeter sort of speculoos made by Lotus is a masterpiece. It's as simple as that: you're a dolt if you don't like speculoos. Have it with a cup of lemon tea and you have a perfect experience. However, the sandwich spread based on speculoos is vile. You need to eat the cookie directly on white bread with a bit of butter. Forget the speculoos paste.
The biscuits are not great. We sell the Lotus ones here some places and I'd eat one if given one but would not buy them myself. The spread stuff is indeed vile. People actually eat that stuff and enjoy it?

The thing I really do miss and don't quite know how I'm going to survive without is kriek. I fell in love with it in '09 and this time I got to taste it for longer and I can't access it here at all

Are you kidding? People are nuts about that spread. You have the regular spread and the spread with small chunks in it or the spread with chocolate in it. So many people are seriously addicted to it. I'm not. As I said: I prefer the regular biscuits between two slices of white bread and a bit of butter.

The cookies here are pure nostalgia. Many of us are brought up on them. It's not a coincidence that the sales have gone through the roof since the big economic crisis erupted in October 2008. In times of trouble, people will fall back on feel-good products.

The spread is a recent thing (the result of a tv show where people are invited to pitch their ideas for new products. The speculoos sandwich spread was the winner of one of those seasons a couple of years ago).

Did you go to a Leonidas shop? Those are more than excellent.

It's criminal that you can't buy it there.

Maybe I'd like the spread more with the chocolate in it... still doubtful. But I don't like the idea of eating a a biscuit with bread and butter either! Next time I see the biscuits here I will buy them and try it just out of curiosity!

Yes I went into multiple shops and was buying myself a few at a time. Leonidas was one of the ones I went in a few times and yes they are nice (when they aren't hazelnut praline )

It's devastating really. My brother in law works in a bar and in '09 when I got home he tried investigating if he could get access to it and it was going to cost SO much to import it it just wasn't worth it.

Guess I'll just have to return there one day so I can have some more
