But he does nothing to fight corruption in Riga, he doesn't have a long-term view of Riga as a regional center, he's too busy spending money so that he'd get more votes. And if he needs an inspiration on how to run a city, he goes to Moscow, not to Europe. It's such a disaster I really don't know what will become of Riga now. It could be such a rich city with the right management but it is not.

Btw the Latvians that our correspondent interviewed didn't like the euro coming one bit, only the businessmen liked it.
Yeah, well, I'm not too happy about it either on an emotional level. I like out lat and learning the new prices will be a headache. But I'm smart enough to realize that it will be good for us all in the long term.

But the reports here say Riga looks better and better.
Our mayor is a populist too so... We got free public transport in Tallinn, have you heard about that.

Yeah Evita, it will take a while to adjust to the new currency but it wasn't that bad for me. Lots of people struggled though, they were kinda bad with math.
We'd need prof Merton for further economic discussion but I really hope Europe & the currency will come out of the hole.

LOL Saulo.

A) I came originally with the Safin crew from his biggest & best fansite we contributed to.
Then became a Rafa fan and somehow with JM also venturing here I started the chat, must've been totally already then but yeah, I admit it I've always been so...

C) Yes I DO miss l_mac.
D) the David 'pics' Ferrer thread and Why is Davydenko so underrented thread. Pure gold! Also Johnny Groove's fiction and 2003's threads. Just couldn't stay away, from these in a trainwreck kind of way.
Mikey and Nathii competing for the Popcon title.
E) If JM says 2005-2009 then OK...

I haven't noticed it. And the roads are a particularly painful subject. It seems we spend so much money of them but the quality is so bad, the first cracks in the asphalt appear not even a year after it's been built

Yes, at one point there was a lot of discussion whether we should do it too But I don't think it's the right solution.

Ohhhhhhhhh dear Evita, the quality of the roads is an eternal subject here too, nothing new in this world.

EHHH?!? I take everything and everyone seriously. Even Johnny Groove and 2003. Too bad I don't know the latest new stars of MTF. I live in the past.

Re: Rafachat - Vol. 80: It's comeback time baby!!! :rocker2:

Why cant I be taken seriously? I was just taking the forum seriously

Actually I was just thinking MTF was entering on its 4th cycle. Obviously the first one no one remembers because no one was here (2001-2004), the second one like JM said was probably the most interesting (2005-2009) because many things that shaped the future forum happened at that time, such as the start of rafa chat and the attentions seekers thread, the rise of the popularity of corey fedlman, the battles between ballet fans and death on clay, the start of tennis tipping, many posters contributing, gamblers posting enphatically on the gamblers lounge etc.

I could say the decline of MTF started around 2009, maybe before, mabe later, when the social crisis explded . First of all we must remember the moderators started a witch hunting against many posters. Excalibur II left with many gamblers the gamblers lounge, ACC started to be more and more criticized by the mods, many new tennis fans entered the forum increasing the "tardism". Since then many traditional posters were banned and almost nothing really interesting happened at this time, except maybe the influx of Murray and Djokovic fans in the forum. Even TT got more and more a rulesbook game.

2013-? put a new cycle to MTF I think. Unfortunately mods continue ther policy to control more what the posters say, and the number of fans of Federer and Nadal tend to decline. I dont think MTF supports well the tendence to evolve, because people in the long run can stop posting here once their idols stop playing or their friends stop doing so.

Can i be taken 0,789% seriously now?
ps2: thank you Maria, I will watch Safin-Guga in youtube in your honor

Perfect review of the MTF history there.
I miss the 2005-09 period. It's so hard to believe just HOW much this place changed over the years and definitely not for the better.

Those were the cool days, weren't they? Safin bemoaned when he retired that everything was only busines, huge 'teams' around the players and no fun like it used to be. A nostalgia-tard.
