The most creative and daft first names given in Flanders to babies born in 2013

Girls

1. Alles ("Alles" is Dutch for "Everything")
2. Djoels
3. Duoduo
4. Eponine
5. Mafifi
6. Israela-Zoe
7. Sourir D'Ange (= smile of an angel)
8. Dauw ("Dauw" is Dutch for "Dew")
9. Pippa Bluebell
10. Sierra Nevenova

---> Can you imagine? Hi, my name is Duoduo and this is my daughter Everything.

Boys

1. Abraham Lincoln
2. Diamond Newman
3. Genius Anthony Kofi
4. Gotwill
5. Oneill
6. Polleken (that goes back to the name "Paul", when little, boys named Paul are sometimes called Polleken. The dialect word for "hand" is Polleke so if you would say to your child before crossing a street "give me a hand, Polleken", you could translate that into "geef me een polleke, Polleken" )
7. Stig
8. Woody
9. Wilg ("Wilg" is Dutch for "Willow")
10. Tamme Jonathan ("Tam" is Dutch for "Tame", thus, Tame Jonathan)

---> Not much better for the boys, is it? Say "Hi, my name is Abraham Lincoln and this is my son Tame Jonathan." and the next thing you know, people will be booking a padded cell for you.
Can you imagine the questions at customs when they check your passport and see the name 'Abraham Lincoln Peeters' for example? "Were your parents eating the wrong sort of mushroom when they were naming you?"

Some people are just plain :cuckoo:

They used to be very strict with first names here but it looks like that's no longer the case.

Although, it depended on community to community.
When my father went to the city council to register our birth, the plan was to name me "Els", which is a fairly common first name here (no longer in fashion, though).

Reply: "Els is the name of a tree. It has to be Elisabeth"
Since my last name is a long one, my dad opted for a slightly shorter first name.

But now, you can name your child Duoduo?

Last time, we had Metis and Linda fighting for the honors. If only Linda was still around...

I'm a bit superstitious about it...:scared:...opening a chat thread mid-GS tournament? :scared:
However, if nobody is willing to do it, I'll jump in. I'll just give other Rafa fans a bit of time to do it.

ETA: hmmm...it seems that nobody gives a shit.

Fine, nobody starts the new chat thread then. Have it your way.
