Haven't been keeping track of the rankings, eh?
We want Djokovic on Rafa's side so we can make sure he's as far away from #2 as possible.
hra87, I keep track of the rankings alright...
Nadal is #2 in the race, just 11 points behind Djokovic and he is #2 in the rankings, 360 points in front of Djokovic.
By virtue of having won Hamburg, Djokovic can go on the other side of the draw at RG and progress to the final if he can. If he does ... That would be great!
(sorry, please don't get offended, breath in, relax and read on)
Nadal beats him on the final. Nadal remains #2, although with Djokovic closer behind. Nadal jumps to #1 in the race and Nadal cuts Federer's lead in the rankings by at least 250 points ... Which greatly improves Nadal chances of attaining #1 at the rankings later on in the season (during or after the US open I hope).
Notice that if Djokovic had progressed to the final in Hamburg or Nadal had not won that final, then that Scenario would not had been desirable (by me and you) as Djokovic progressing to the final of RG would had deprived Nadal of its #2 ranking even if Nadal wins RG.
Besides, I prefer Djokovic and Federer battling each other and then Nadal beating the "survivor" of such battle than Nadal having to battle with both of them at consecutive matches.
We all want Djokovic behind Nadal, but we want Nadal to become #1 one day, don't we? I know I do ;-)
