According to Rafa's official site (rafaelnadal.com), Toni Nadal will fly to NYC on Thursday.
Rafa will be featured in the New York Times, Sports Illustrated, the Charlie Rose Show (he was already in Time Magazine) and he will take part in the US Open Arthur Ashe Kids' Day this Saturday.

On vamosbrigade, I found the following:
Quote:
Andy Roddick, Rafael Nadal and the world's top professional tennis players will join celebrity chef Marcus Samuelsson and NY's finest chefs to showcase their culinary skills at the W New York on August 23rd! Enjoy our website and be sure to call 877-272-7100 or email us for more information about this year's Taste.

He's going to be busy!

Re: The US Open Thread

Thanks Castafiore.

The draw is tomorrow (Wednesday) but I don't know what time. Let's hope for the best and prepare for the worst, right?

Hmmm. How about The "Let's Bite the Big Apple (No More Fruit Choking Incidents)" USO Thread ? It's a bit obvious but I'm not feeling very creative.

I hope all these 'obligations' don't affect him too badly... He always seems different in NYC.

BTW, hello, everybody!

Don't worry about Roddick, he even lost to Ferrer. But I do hope that Fed will meet Djoko in semis. The final will be more interesting without him.

I wonder if Rafa and Roger will play on a mini court like they did last year.

In what way does Rafa always seem to be different in NYC? These are my first US-Open as a Nadal-fan. I always supported Agassi.

It's not so bad. Rafa could meet some tricky opponents, but for once he hasn't drawn lots of the "usual suspects". If his form picks up, he's got a chance to do ok ... if it doesn't, well - he won't go far no matter what draw he has. Nole on the other hand has a much tougher draw from the word go. By the time he gets to the SF, he could be tired.

I'm allergic to morons.

I agree the draw could be worse, although I believe that Tursunov is the most dangerous of the seeded players he could have faced in 3rd round. I am crying about Nole's draw! What a shame

Re: The US Open Thread

Nadal's draw is not that bad, if he was 100% he can make it to the SF. It sucks for Novak his draw is brutal, and of course Roger gets the easiest draw possible, as usual.

Re: The US Open Thread

The draw is in my opinion the easiest in this year's slams for him but It's not fair Nole again in Rafa's draw. But so be it. I am sure Rafa will spank him brutally.
And again and again Roger's luck is unbelievable. 5 Quialifiers one after another in the draw?! It's good he will only face two of them. And it is good Roger will not play all his matches against Blake!

hiya

I think the 'obligations' actually help him to relax a bit,I think it's better than being obsessed with playing tennis/ training etc..

Vamos rafa!
