Yes a strong result since last week he wasn't feeling well and DC took some out of him, wasn't sure if he would play this, Ignatik was not so easy too, in fact Ignatik beat Vasek in AO 17' qualys, but his current form isn't so good. Up next is Pavlasek which will be an easier match on paper.
Some really solid Popsicle so far this year - the Cilic loss even at the AO showed signs he's finding some form. Of course, the proof will be when he starts playing in the bigger tournaments. Hopefully this win gets him into Miami directly (it should)
What a weird match. Vasek was 0/11 on BP's in the first set. He was clearly more experienced player in the breaker and once he got that you knew he had the advantage in the third set.
Hopefully can take care of business today and play Peter/Klizan in the semi's - lots of points up for grabs in this challenger
I cant see any scenario he doesnt get into Miami directly - Nadal, Wawrinka are already out meaning Marterer and Fritz are IN. Others are surely out as well, I'd bet he's already in (only Lajovic is ahead of him)
First match in this little challenger run where I wouldn't consider him to be the better player or the favourite. Time to see how well he's really playing.
