I'm sure Wayne Arthurs won one 19-17 this year? Shame for Gasquet, he should've won that match. But with more experience he should do well on the tour. I'm glad Gaston decided to fight after that shocking first set performance. I also didn't know that Gasquet's being coached by Tarik Bernhabiles! (sp?)

Unsurprisingly, it was a grass-court match: first round of Nottingham, Arthurs v Bob Bryan, containing a first-set tiebreak which Arthurs won 19-17 after saving about 11 set points. He won it 7-6 (17), 7-5, I recall.

ROGER FEDERER: Yeah, I remember this one time when I went on a vacation on the Maldives. That was in the year 2001, I think. I went to this spa. I went to walk around with my girlfriend. I walk in, and we want to book a spa. This guy goes, "AHH, I remember you. You beat Sampras. I saw you on TV." That was like, really, how can you remember me? This guy has probably never been off his island and still knows me. I was a little bit shocked. Then I went to play tennis with him because he was actually the tennis teacher. It was nice.

Q. Were you naked at the time in the spa?

ROGER FEDERER: No. It was at the front desk. I didn't walk in naked.

Re: Monday scores

so Hanescu won, congrats to him.
too bad for Wayne though, I would have liked to see him get into a fight with Andy, he always gets his teeth into a challenge.

Re: Re: Monday scores

Hmm... pity Ferreira lost, but if anyone remembers his match with Roddick in Cincy last year (which Roddick won so fast he was actually able to go out to a concert he thought he would miss that same night), maybe it's a good thing that Hanescu came through. He's 6'6", a big server and a flashy hitter with definite talent (although he did fall to my man at Wimbledon in straight sets...).

Re: Re: Re: Monday scores

I've heard that pun before, during Gasquet's first ever ATP win against Squillari in Monte Carlo last year. And the other commentator who'd just endured that dreadful joke, turned to his colleague and gave him the proper French pronunciation of Gasquet in a weary, reproving tone. It was never mentioned again.
