Haha, what a call.Abu Dhabi Exhibition event has announced the participation of Djokovic, Nadal, Federer, Ferrer, Tsonga and Monfils which will likely result in those 5 playing the Qatar Open as well. Bedych and Fish have also committed to Hopman Cup which virtually leaves one top 8 player available for Brisbane International. If anyone is wondering Murray is not playing Hopman Cup in 2012.
If we take a look at history it would seem Murray is headed to Brisbane for the following reasons:
1. Murray has begun the last two years in Australia and it has resulted in Australian Open finals so you would think he would stick with the theme of starting the year in Australia.
2. Brisbane International has been able to attract at least one top 8 player each year since its' inception by paying big appearance fees to at least one player. (2009 - Djokovic(3), 2010 - Roddick(7), 2011 - Soderling (5).)
3. Brisbane International has recently upgraded to a bigger event on the womens tour and would be keen to attract a big male player to accompany the likes of Serena and Sharapova.
It is definitely looking like Murray will head to Brisbane and I am not just saying that because I am Australian and I want him to play Brisbane. I genuinely think he will come after the little bit of study I have done into the situation.
