Come on HABS!
But wouldn't it have been better to play a challenger? He has the potential to win a lot more points in the challenger than the 250, right? It's not even a done deal that he'll make the qualifying cut in the 250!

I don't get why so many Canadians end their season early, remember a few years ago when Duclos went to Australia and had some very weak challengers.
thats okay

the only challenger that week is a brazilian one on clay. Considering he's going to be in Asia, and he's not the best player in the world on clay, I consider it a pretty smart decision

So wait a minute.. Is Raonic going to the Challenger too or is he trying out for the 250 instead? I'm confused..

seoul
st.petersburg

I actually read it again and lol.. Never mind, I just misunderstood the first time.

It's nice to see Vasek and Milos playing a challenger together! Hopefully Vasek will be able to qualify. Has Vasek played any challengers before? Or has he just been playing futures? Will be interesting to see how he does in this challenger.

Re: Canadian players

i have to credit vasek, He did the smart thing and entered qualies knowing full well he would most likely not get in as an alternate..to bad philip isnt doing the same

Re: Canadian players

I'm pretty sure Vasek has never won a challenger match in his career but you could look that up on the ATP site

I'd say Milos got in, he seems pretty comitted to getting his rank up and I think he would have played the qualies if he had to. He was the 2nd alt last I saw but remember every challenger has 2 SE spots so chances are they got cleared and he got in

Re: Canadian players

the only problem with special exempt however is that milos was not participating in another tournament during the qualifying draw and he lost on a wednesday which gave him plenty of time to get to kazakhstan by saturday and as far as we know nothing was stoipping him from doing so. So as far as i can see he doesnt qualify for special exempt...it looks like milos may lose a week here

but we'll see when the draw is released if he didnt im sure he'll try and fill in his schedule to make up for the lost time

Re: Canadian players

This is the entry list for Tashkent

Gil, Frederico POR 84
Sela, Dudi ISR 85
Schuettler, Rainer GER 90
Greul, Simon GER 101
Beck, Andreas GER 103
Devvarman, Somdev IND 117
Brown, Dustin JAM 118
Beck, Karol SVK 122
Kravchuk, Konstantin RUS 131
Minar, Ivo CZE 161
Ignatik, Uladzimir BLR 163
Skugor, Franco CRO 165
Muller, Gilles LUX 169
Haider-Maurer, Andreas AUT 181
Martin, Andrej SVK 182
Polansky, Peter CAN 190
Kuznetsov, Andrey RUS 193
Kudryavtsev, Alexandre RUS 199
Lojda, Dusan CZE 200
Lammer, Michael SUI 204
Recouderc, Laurent FRA 211
Sergeyev, Ivan UKR 214

Raonic's ranking is now higher than some of those, so I'd imagine he got in. Also I'd imagine that after these recent results he may be able to get a decent run here. Also notice Polansky's name in there, that means possibly three Canadians in the draw.

Thought Polansky was out for a month?
