Mexico is tough, still better than Brazil or Colombia though.. I still think it would have been better with Uruguay..

mexico doesnt have anyone as dangerous as cuevas

Re: Canadian players

we got the best draw we could have hoped for according to me...
they don't have any big threats, and santiago gonzalez is there best player. (he's 231 in the world right now)

Canada should be able to easily beat mexico if we have a good line-up (frank, milos, peter, dan...)

That sounds good!

I'm just wondering.. How is the Canada F4 going? I read there was a storm in Toronto last night.. is it raining there now?

Just peaked outside, it's not raining anymore but it's still cloudy and damp.

Re: Canadian players

is n.lapentti still playing next year or is he retiring?
because if he retires we have a really good shot at making the WG play-offs...

Last time I heard he was saying he'd stay around had Ecuador remained in the World Group. With that no longer the case it will be interesting to see what he decides to do. He's been out with a serious knee injury since Rome and didn't play the Romania tie at all because of it, so it looks like things are not going his way. A big shame, I'll miss the old dog and his 'never say die' attitude.

At the same time, if he's not playing, that's good news for Canada.

I bet Frank Dancevic is still having nightmares of last year's tie and the match points he had against Lapentti only to lose in 5 sets.

It has not rained since early am. Unfortunately, that's all I can say.

We can disagree with WC choices but it is worth bearing in mind that they are given with different objectives in mind. Your objectives may not be the same as Tennis Canada's. I think it was pretty clear in this case that Tennis Canada gave out Bruno's WC as a reward for saving the day against Peru in Davis Cup. You may not like that as a reason for getting a WC, but if that is the criterion, Bruno did deserve it. (I am also guessing that Tennis Canada was hoping that Bruno might go the pro route and turn out well, and they were trying to give his career a helping hand. The fact that Laurendeau was accompanying him in Futures qualifying at the beginning of the year suggests as much. But it was not to be, and hopefully Bruno will make a great kids' coach).

Another point to consider: given that frankly we don't have enough players with sufficient skills to take advantage of 4 Rogers Cup WCs, why quibble with one being given out for eccentric reasons?
