Re: Canadian players

funny seeds for the futures event. 2 WC's, and a qualifier are seeded. If only they had signed up on time, some other canadians may have gotten spots as well

I'm ready to see some canucks do well this week in that event

Re: Canadian players

Still wondering what happened to Peliwo? Di Feo needs to take this guy down, I know that his sister is a pretty decent player (that is if they are even related) but this is the first time I see Tabakh in any sort of qualifying so I don't have a clue about him but he did make it through qualifying. Monette is also a decent looking junior, but I don't see him getting past the first round. I think they should give a point for at least qualifying. You could go could go like 40-20 in qualifying all year and not get a single point because you always lose that final round of qualifying.

I think you should at least get some points no matter what level you are playing at. How the hell are you suppose to build any confidence if you keep winning and not getting anything for it.

Re: Canadian players

Peliwo, Nguyen and Ochotta. The three highest juniors born after 92, and none of them are competing in it. I saw Ochotta the other day, so I guess he just elected not to play in this one, and Nguyen pulled out a long time ago.

Re: Canadian players

OK. I just have a few questions..

Why isn't Peliwo playing? Isn't he the highest ranked junior? So wouldn't this be an awesome opportunity for him?

Oh, and about the Bangkok ATP 250 tournament.. So Peter really is going for it? He is trying to qualify? That is good news.. I was hoping he's do that! So yeah, good match practice for him playing a few matches first in the challenger, but still.. He gotta be jetlagged, so maybe we won't see the best of results..

Thanks to mayagaller for the pics!

i thought you'd also be happy to hear, since he is a player from your country that erling tveit advanced into the 2nd round aswell with a 3 set win over adrian menendez maceiras of spain

unfortunately his next opponent is, i think # 6 seed ivan navarro

Wow! That is great. Yeah, next match will get tough, but at least he's getting some match practice before the qualy matches in the 250 event. I mean, if he is going for that, I'm not sure.. He needs to improve his ranking as much as possible. He is close to his highest ranking ever, so a few more good matches should get him more points and possibly move ahead in the rankings.

That is great news. I think this is the first time getting past the qualifying stages actually. Still, I'm not getting my hopes up... He's already "old" by tennis standards, and he is still only ranked around 500 in the world. Norway will never get a good tennis player. Never. I accepted that a long time ago.

dont say never..norway did have a player in the top 100 before. christian rudd was the highest ranked norwegian and he made ti to world # 39. He also had some pretty decent runs in grand slams including the 4th round at tha australian open in 1997 and the 3rd round at the french twice.

there was also jan frode andersen who got to world # 135

sure norway may never have a great tennis player but guys from norway have gotten into and close to the top 100 before and maybe someone will again.

Maybe in the past, but it's not going to happen in the near future. Trust me. Norwgeian tennis is not looking good at the moment, and I don't think that will change in the next decade either. Sad thing is nobody cares about the sport here, and The Norwegian Tennis Association is awful, they're not doing nearly enough to produce good players, so yeah.. Norwegian tennis will probably stay at the current level for a long time.

The thing is that I knew this a long time ago, and I accepted it. Norway is not a tennis country, never was, never will be.. We'll never get any good players ever again. I don't even care anymore.. Why do you think I root for players from Canada instead? At least you have some guys with serious talent and potential, and your tennis association is not crap like the Norwegian one.

I was wondering about the same.. Has anyone played today? Or has it been delayed due to rain?
