Both are old and slipping. The feuding may continue out of frustration with poor results. Or maybe they both just enjoy what's left of the ride a bit more, let go and get on
Have I mentioned how glad I am that Nestor/Zimonjic are together again? They are playing really well and, oh yeah, the Bryans are out of the Aussie Open in the third round!
Nestor and Zimonjic won a hard 3 setters vs Fyrstenberg and Matkowski. Nestor served for the match in second set, got tight and lost serve. Eventually lost the set in TB. Finally got the job done in third set.
They played like they were never parted for the last two years so it's good.
Outstanding win in a Masters Series event. Does anyone know where I can find doubles head to head statistics? Before he played the Bryans at the US Open I think someone said he was even against them. He is 1-2 since then.
Ageless Nestor! With today's win, his record against the Bryan brothers is now 28-28.
With Zimonjic: 11-7
With Pospisil: 0-1
With Lindstedt: 1-0
With Mirnyi: 3-2
With Knowles: 9-17
With Stolle: 2-1
With Lareau: 2-0
I did this manually, so there may be mistakes.
I think it would have been with Pospisil id he didn't have the awesome Wimbledon run. Zimnojic also won the mixed doubles title in Wimbledon so he may be taking the week off as well.
Best of luck in 2015 with Bopanna. On another note, the ATP site just claimed that the Bryan brothers are the first to complete the career golden masters, but I'm pretty sure Nestor did that already. Maybe they're excluding him because he did it with different partners.
Feel so strange with this match with ex-partners playing vs each other. But guess they are used to. At leat Nestor partnership with Bopanna works better than Zimojic and Qureshi who are spitting up after this.
