Re: Filip Peliwo

Filip will be a practice partner for Canada next week in Montreal.

I was kinda hoping he would play the futures event in Toronto to help build his ranking but I guess this will be good experiance for him. I'm hoping Canada wins easily and Filip gets a chance to play a dead rubber on Sunday

Re: Filip Peliwo

Filip can't play the dead rubber unless he's named to the team (which he won't be unless something extraordinary happens). But it probably won't be too long before he is on the team.

A transcript of his interview post-US Open win is available here: http://www.tenniscanada.com/files/up...transcript.doc

Quite interesting.

Re: Filip Peliwo

But people who have not been on the 4 player team hav played dead rubbers on other teams in the past haven't they? I'm almost sure I've seen practice partners play dead rubbers before. Didn't Vasek play one against Columbia like 4 years ago?

Nah, you do actually have to be on the team.

Re: Filip Peliwo

Yeah I guess you're right. Vasek played one 4 years ago against Mexico but he was named to the team then.

I don't agree though, who cares if they're on the team or not, the result doesn't matter, I'd prefer to watch a younger lower ranked player play than some random doubles player like countries often do.

Re: Filip Peliwo

Yeah, they should be able to name squads of five or even six. Not good when a doubles expert, like a Bryan brother, has to play a dead singles rubber (or even a live one) cause of one the two singles players gets hurt (especially as live rubbers are all five sets). Having to play out dead rubbers is bad enough as it is. Likely dead rubbers should be done away with anyway.

Re: Filip Peliwo

Now that he's a full pro, will he be nearly as good at the pro level, or has he peaked as a junior?

He will not reach number 1 in the world as a pro.

Re: Filip Peliwo

Well never say never, but I kind of agree with that right now, but as of now what do you think his peak potential as a pro is, top 50, 25, 10, something else?
