What a genuinely nice guy he is. I've had the pleasure of interacting with him on twitter and he's very courteous and happy to answer questions. Really pulling for him, from now on.
He's had an Achilles injury all summer, it's the reason for recent poor events. Today he went biking, training. He is supposed to be playing in Israel.
Oh really, so he was playing injured, I hope he did not make it worse and it's not too serious, I just looked and he has WD from the next 3 weeks Israel Futures, he did that 9 days ago.
I will never cease to call him Pepe from now on!
I did some research on Pouille and he's much much better than I thought. He, like Filip, is in for a big future, so the loss is even more understandable.
Anyone have any idea what type of schedule Filip will have for the first couple months? I am presuming he will play the futures circuit for at least the first 6 months, with maybe the odd challenger.
A good win over Taro Daniel, a solid up and comer in round 1. Disappointed he couldn't at least get Fratangelo to three sets in round two. (Turini beat Salamanca, making last week's loss to him not such a bad-looking one.)
Question, I know in the past that players who finished in the top 10 in the junior rankings at the end of the year you get some junior exempt entries into futures events?
Does it still work like that? If so why didn't Filip use it to get into the futures event this past week? He won't need them most of the time as his ranking is good enough to get into most futures anyway
They normally save the Junior Exempts for the 15k + H tournaments which get you over twice as many points and about twice as much prize money as the one's he was currently playing in.
