Great win against Duckee Lee today. Both players played well at the same time in the third set. I admire Filip for persisting after two years ranked around 400. A breakthrough came in 2017. Weeks like this one consolidate his position.
For now he moves into a career high ranking at 168, but other results could knock him back. Either way it's been a very good week for him so far. Keep it up!
Peliwo leads Mcdonald 2-6, 6-3, 5-4 (serving for the match). The match is suspended due to rain as I write this. Lots of grinding rallies. It seemed like Mcdonald was the better player, but Peliwo the better fighter. Filip twice came back from a break down in the third set. Mcdonald got a code violation for ball abuse.
Update: Peliwo lost game ten thanks to two double faults. Mcdonald won game eleven on Peliwo errors. More grinding and a timely ace gave Peliwo game twelve. Aggressive returning made the difference in the tie break. 7-5 Peliwo.
Big loss to Escobedo in the first round at Gatineau. He hit one of the biggest double faults I've ever seen at 5-5 in the third. The following game was even worse.
