I was just trying to get a few canadian stereotypes across

But yeah we did get snow earlier, had a storm with 30 cm 2 weeks ago, pretty much everything got shut down. It all melted though, and we got a dusting of snow last night. I had my first green christmas last year and didn't like it, really hoping to avoid one this year

Nice work, Serve

The thread needs a more exciting name... like "Coffee and Donuts Canadian chat" or "Hoser Chat for CDNs and their non-skating pals"
"Tim Horton Coffee and Donuts Chat"

Re: Off Topic Chat Thread

Don't you guys find it sad that our country's culture is just a sum of dumb stereotypes? (maple syrup, beavers, hockey, winter, eh, indians, celine dion,...).

I mean, what other country in the world has a cheap donuts shop as a national icon?

I guess it has to do with being a young country. Australia has pretty much the same problem. (kangaroos, boomerangs, beaches,...)

No one associates Canada with Tim Hortons except Canadians - its simply not known outside our countries.

And the donut will remain an American creation to most, even if I think we technically consume more per capita than anyone else in the world.

I was aware of Tim Hortons. I think I saw it in NYC. Had no clue it's Canadian though.

I live in Maine and we have Tim Horton's all over the place Also many Mainers consider themselves Canadian; does that count?
Hey I voted btw and I am never impartial. Just ask Nathi.

I didn't care much about Tim Horton while living in Canada but a few years after I moved to US, I stopped by a Tim Horton every summer when I visit

Re: Off Topic Chat Thread

I just wanted to wish all of you guys a happy holiday. I hope you have a good one and i hope your all safe and i'll see you in the new year, since this will more than likely be my last visit here this year. I'm off to visit my grandpa.

also i thought i'd share my new years resolution : its to try and be more positive. That includes here, in my posts...since i know my almost constant negativitity tends top get on some peoples nerves.

There are only a couple left in New York - most closed within 6 months.

And as you say - you didnt know it was Canadian. With excuses to our friends in Maine, Ohio, and Michigan where Timmy's is popular, that was my point And Nathaliia next time you're here in NYC I'll take you for a double double!

People associate McDonalds with the US - Tim Hortons is even more important to Canada than McDonalds to the US (or Dunkin for that matter) and yet its not a national symbol except to Canadians and expat Canadians like myself.

I'm serious by the way about calling this the Double Double Tards Thread
