I think we should have a chat thread about anything off topic here.

Like the Leafs for example, 2 losses in a row:eek:

I would like fighting be gone from NHL but I also don't believe this will help with the concussion problem in the league. The only way, IMO, is to have severe punishment for cheap shots plus not only the player but the team and coach be liable for cheap shots.

imo concussions will always be a problem in the NHL. The game is so fast, even if you do dish out very severe punishments it won't make it stop completely, a lot of these incidents are accidents, the players hitting have the right intent, but something goes wrong, i.e. they get their elbows too high up, the player they hit goes into the boards akwardly, or the accidently clip the head. The only way to significantly reduce the concussions is to vastly decrease the hitting in the game which would be a horrible thing. Concussions suck, but they will be a part of the game unfortunately I think:sad:

Merry Christmas everyone! Or God Jul as we say here in Norway :)

I was just wondering.. what are your thoughts on the Canadian sportsman of the year award? Do you really think Patrick Chan deserved it? I sure as hell didn't! He's a spoiled brat, and Milos deserves it SO much more! Here's why:

Patrick Chan voted sportsman of the year? What a joke! The guy doesn't even want to skate for Canada! He said he feels more Chinese, and he's not appreciated, blah blah.. he's basically a big crybaby, and I can't stand that spoiled ugly brat. He's even corrupt, they changed the points system just for him! Yet he wins the award for being the best in a sport that maybe 10 countries compete in? He falls down a lot too, weirdly enough he doesn't lose any points, and wins and wins, yet skaters skating BETTER than him lose, WTF?!?! I can't stand Patrick, and figure skating was a sport I loved before it became corrupt. I also can't stand the homophobia Skate Canada has spewed the last few years, with their "tough campaign". What a load of BS. Is it any wonder why a bunch of skaters have suddenly "retired" the last few years? They had one thing in common: they were all gay. I am sick and tired of the Evangelical and homophobic agenda from Skate Canada.

Anyway.. my point is just that Milos should have won sportsman of the year, not spoiled brat Patrick Chan. Milos is proud of being Canadian, even though he was born in Montenegro, while Chan would rather skate for China. Also, Tennis is a bigger sport and it's a bigger achievement to move 100+ spots to top 25 in the world in less than a year, than being the #1 in the tiny sport of figure skating imo.

no i do not agree with the pick, i would not have picked patrick chan and it has nothing to do with what he said either. However i also would not have picked milos for the honor simply because even though he made it higher in the rankings then any other canadian has i dont think thats enough to deserve it

my choice would probably have been dylan armstrong who made history in the shot put competition. Not nearly well as known but he's a hard worker and he did great things for canada in the sport.

on another topic who here believes in the doomsday prophecy for 2012? there are some people who say that the mata never actually predicted the end of the world and thaqt anyone who thinks they did simply mis understood them. I tend to go with those people, i dont think 2012 will be it.

i do know that i count on alot of crazy crap happening next year though especially as the year winds down

i dont usually watch hockey but gievn im in a house with my father who happens to make sure he watches the whole game every time america v.s canada comes on. I was pretty disgusted with the way the canadian audience acted toward those young american men. Cheering like canada just won a gold medal every time the czech scored and giving hardly any reaction to the americans, that was pretty obvious who they were ruiting for.

The czech goalie also really irritated me, celebrating like the game was over more than once in that thirtd period with time to go. I think it would have been hilarious if america came back and won
