Also Arash Madani is reporting that "Frank Dancevic is dealing with a minor, right wrist issue. Doesn't feel it will be a bother, but it is taped up in his practice sessions" ... this is actually worrying ... (of course if wrist is really a bother, no way Frank is going to tell even home reporters). If Frank can't go, we are left we Pops lined up for 3 matches (huge risk IMO since rubber #5, no matter if odds are against us, is still key) or Peliwo. Yikes. Nothing against Filip, but think Serbia would have the luxery of playing either 1. Djoker for a light 60-80 min "practice session" or 2. playing Lajovic with a pretty sure win as well.
Of course if we knew 100% certain that Djoker wasn't going to play Friday, and Frank was hurt, I say go all-in & try to win the first 3 rubbers with Pops against Lajovic on Friday .. if it doesn't work out, oh well. Unfortunately don't think Serbia is going to tip their hand on Djoker's intention :-).
They wouldn't throw in Lajovic instead of Nole if they knew it was Filip as our #2.
If this was done before the draw then lajovic would be their #2 and play Milos while Vasek as our #2 would get Tipsy their #1(since Nole didn't play). If they subbed in Lajovic for Nole to play Filip after the draw was done then this could only happen due to a legimate injury and Nole could not play anymore during the tie which they wouldn't do for obvious reasons.
and in a similar fashion if we knew Lajovic was playing and not Nole on day 1, we couldn't just throw Vasek in there to play Lajovic. Lajovic would be their #2, Vasek would be our #2, if such a case where Lajovic and Vasek were both nominated they'd both play the opposite teams #1 and not each other.
So basically Lajovic v. Our #2 has almost 0% chance of happening on day 1.
