Frank will come to play, nobody has his passion
and love to play for his country, Canada.

Re: Davis Cup

Question ? How is it decided who plays who. Do we pick our
#1 and #2 and them as well. Then the names are revealed or
does the home team get to pick who plays who ??

If your question is individual points, its 65 points per win ... see: http://www.daviscup.com/en/rankings/...ng-points.aspx
well Spain is 1st. Maybe they lose in the world group playoff and we'll be the 8th best team in WG even if we are ranked 9th

I can hope can't I

I didn't even fathom that scenario .. but you are right however slim the odds ... as Haas has shown the last few days, assuming slim odds = zero chance is not a smart move in Tennis.

Re: Davis Cup

Dancevic injured a knee in training, replaced in playing squad by Levine, but Pospisil to play against Seppi in opening day singles.

Also, apparently, the Italian doubles team with be Bracciali partnering Lorenzi and not Fognini.

I wouldn't even look at their doubles team to be honest. A lot of countries just name their 2 non singles players for the schedule and then change them when Saturday gets here. I believe Italy has done this before as well.

Then still could be planning on playing Fog

Re: Davis Cup

Wouldn't surprise me if Seppi purposefully made the match go five sets to wear Pospisil out for tomorrow. Likely not, but it wouldn't surprise me where Seppi has had that much command of his game lately.

Re: Davis Cup

One of the reasons IMO we wanted to have Dancy take the S#2 slot on Friday, was to make sure that Vasek was fresh for the very important doubles. As soon as Dancy & Bolelli were out, the doubles probably became a toss up ... and thus even more important. I know hind sight is 20/20 but the decision to play Vasek Friday instead of Levine may be one we really regret.

Plenty of players play singles and dubs, he'll be fine.

Yes, but playing (potentially) back-to-back (to-back) 5 setters takes its toll on the fittest of players ... and it is unclear (despite Vasek's comments) if he is up to the task after his bout with mono. And Vasek seemed to be showing slight signs of fatigue in the 3rd set already yesterday ... I just had the feeling on that late break chance he had in the 3rd that it was "now or never ... you lose this set & match is over" ... and it was.

I'll get off my soapbox now on this .. really hope I'm wrong and Vasek comes out strong today to help take the "decisive" doubles (Milos will up his game tomorrow after so-so performance against the Fog) .. and everyone here can say an emphatic FAIL to my pessimism (I might even do that to myself :-) ).

Re: Davis Cup

I'm with you, though, but I didn't think of it till during the second set, where I told my wife that if he doesn't win this in straights, Seppi will win. There was definitely a difference in how Vasek played tired compared to in the past, such as against Sela. Likely the mono as well as the time off with mono.

But I don't think playing Jesse in doubles would help. Hopefully, Vasek was holding back a bit yesterday for today, he won't have to do that again today where Jesse can play tomorrow, and Vasek will therefore have more energy deeper into the match today. Either Italy goes for the same thing and plays Fognini, giving Jesse a decent chance tomorrow (should it matter then); or they play Lorenzi, who is a fairly weak doubles player.

Re: Davis Cup

Why did Pospisil serve last in the first set and first in the second set?
