Re: Davis Cup

Hey, what happened to Grant Connell as our Davis Cup coach? Plus, I think Shamasdin should be on our team including PLD/Chvojka as alternates. And how come Polansky is on the team? The guy can't win a single game for us.

Re: Davis Cup

They should make the next venue in Whistler, BC. They got tennis courts there and If I were boss, I would have Team Canada play there with grass courts installed. Imagine the high altitude played on grass courts would do for Milos? Godly...

The "ice rink" in Calgary Stampede Carrol with be even better. Calgary is at a high altitude (about 1000m) and that place is freezing cold even in the summer The indoor hard court was so fast that Team Canada won many DC ties there.

Re: Davis Cup

Milos is still unproven on a grass court. It'd be stupid to do what you suggested

I disagree. Historically, Canadian players have done well on grass. Even our current players love the grass. Frank Dancevic and Daniel Nestor's best results have come on grass. Also, grass would favor Milos' game big time! It would also help Vasek's game too.

Just imagine holding our Davis Cup ties in either Calgary or BC at high altitudes on grass, we would be unstoppbale! Especially with Milos on serve!

Seeded nations

Unseeded nations
Australia

South Africa

so this means we get one of the unseeded nations in the WG Playoffs.

There's a better than 50% chance we'll have a home tie again.

In Canada
Brazil
Chile
Netherlands

decided by lot
Australia
Belgium
Japan
South Africa
Uzbekistan

Re: Davis Cup

Belgium, australia and japan would be the hardest ties for sure. I think the best bet would probably be one of chile, south africa or uzbekistan

When is the draw done?

Peter Polansky
Nestor - Chvojka - Pospisil - Raonic - Peliwo

Re: Davis Cup

I don't want Brazil either. Even though it'd be home, they've got a good doubles team, and can send a couple top 100 players. Sure they'd be on hard but I'd much prefer a weaker team who might be confortable on the surface like Chile or Uzbekistan. We should beat Brazil but I still don't want to get them.

Japan and Australia would be without a doubt the toughest. South Africa might not be easy if Anderson plays for them.

As long as we avoid Japan and Australia I think we win.

Re: Davis Cup

Please don't let us draw Australia! Our players often seem to struggle against Australians.

I don't think Kevin Anderson is playing for SA anymore - apparently he's applying for US citizenship.

Re: Davis Cup

south africa wouldnt have been a problem even with anderson. We would definately beat them in doubles and milos would be able to handle any of them in singles, including anderson so at the worst it would have been a 3-2 win for canada

Re: Davis Cup

Bring on the best teams! I don't like hoping for easy draws. Canada did it the hard way last year, with three away ties and with injuries. They can do it again this year, against anybody; the eight teams are all within reach. If the tie is in Australia or Japan, would our top players stay out there to play the Asian tournaments (Bangkok, Tokyo, Shanghai), or would they come back in between?
