Re: Erik Chvojka

Re: Erik Chvojka

Erik is a qualie alternate for the Australian Open but his chances look slim to get in. I doubt very much Erik even booked a ticket for Australia. My guess, he's probably still chilling out in Montreal waiting for a North American challenger to pop up.

I'm pretty sure that Erik is in or 1 out so I think he'll be there.

Erik will get in. The cut off for AO qualifying is usually in the low 300's

and if you look at today's entry list for Australian Open, Erik has been moved in.

Re: Erik Chvojka

The cut was a lot higher then expected but the cut moves a lot during the last week. I expect the final cut to be around 285-290. I am leaving for aus tomorrow

Re: Erik Chvojka

Erik drew Golubev in round 1 of the AO qualies draw. He probably won't win it unless Golubev decides to start another long losing streak. In the off chance he pulls of the upset round 2 would be a winnable match against Albot or Matsukivich who I believe he played a couple times last year. Round 3 would likely be Ilhan. No way will be beat both Golubev and Ilhan, don't give him much chance of getting through this section but good luck to him nonetheless

Re: Erik Chvojka

I agree 156, if he could ever beat Golubev that next match is winnable, but I don't see it happening.

Re: Erik Chvojka

I see Erik having a 35% chance of qualifying for the main draw. I'd say he has the least favorable draw of all the Canadian players entered in the qualies event.

Re: Erik Chvojka

well Erik ends up losing 6-2 in the third. He will stay in Australia and play the Aussie challengers, starting with Burnie.

Chances are, he will do well in the Aussie challengers/futures, usually the talent fields in those events are pretty weak I find and should be good for Erik to maintain or improve his ranking like he did last year in the beginning.
