Canadian Doubles

We have one of the best doubles players of all time - Daniel Nestor. Also, Adil Shamasdin has been doing really well over the past year (including one tour title). Lets discuss Canadian doubles results here.

Re: Canadian Doubles

Tough loss for Nestor against Gonzalez/Lipsky in Barcelona.

Hopefully he will gel with Max by Wimbledon

Re: Canadian Doubles

Adil Shamasdin and partner beat Golubev/Istomin in a super tie breaker in ATP tournament in Munich. Great win!

Re: Canadian Doubles

ya Cerretani/Shamasdin won, but they had me worried in the super TB for a bit; they were up 8-2 when Golubev/Istomin started coming back; after 9-4 the eastern europeans managed to get back 4 mps before Shamasdin and co sealed the deal... something of a squeeker that one, but it all worked out

Re: Canadian Doubles

Adil lost in the semis in straight sets...not sure what their next tournament is but I'm guessing it's Prague. I'm curious if their ranking (around 135-140) will be enough to be entered for doubles at the French Open.

Re: Canadian Doubles

A little analysis on Daniel's doubles career from Tom Tebbutt this week

http://www.lovemeansnothing.ca/blog/...improved-novak

Quote:
Daniel Nestor started 2011 at No. 5 on the all-time list of doubles titles winners in the open era (since 1968) with 71.

This was the list then:

Todd Woodbridge 83

John McEnroe 78

Tom Okker 78

Frew McMillan 74

Daniel Nestor 71

So far this year, Nestor and partner Max Mirnyi have one title – in Memphis. But the top-ranked Bryan brothers, Bob and Mike, have four, including in Madrid and Monte Carlo at the last two Masters 1000 events.

So the list now looks like this:

Todd Woodbridge 83

John McEnroe 78

Tom Okker 78

Frew McMillan 74

Mike Bryan 73*

Daniel Nestor 72

Bob Bryan 71

*Mike Bryan won two titles with other partners early in his career.

While Nestor, 38, appears to be fighting a losing battle with the Bryans, 33, for career titles, he is well in front in matches won – and his next will be the 800th of his career. That’s more than 100 ahead of the American twins.

Re: Canadian Doubles

So Shamasdin lost his first round French Open doubles match while Nestor won his.

Re: Canadian Doubles

So Nestor is in the doubles semi-finals at the French Open. He faces his old partner Nenad for a spot in the finals.
