We have one of the best doubles players of all time - Daniel Nestor. Also, Adil Shamasdin has been doing really well over the past year (including one tour title). Lets discuss Canadian doubles results here.
Felix jumps 174 spots to number 77 in the doubles rankings. He is behind Shapovalov (49) and ahead of Polansky (186) and Pospisil (191). They are much better than their rankings when they actually play, as illustrated by Auger-Aliassime's title win today in Paris and Vasek's Wimbledon title.
Other examples:
Shapovalov - Auger-Aliassime d. Krawietz-Mies at the 2020 ATP Cup
Pospisil-Shapovalov d. Peers-Thompson and Khachanov-Rublev in 2019 Davis Cup
Australian Open first round: Pospisil-Shapovalov d. Weissborn-Martin. Auger-Aliassime lost. I guess, with so many cancelled events, players feel like they need matches. Halep is playing doubles as well.
Australian Open 2nd round: Pospisil - Shapovalov lost to Tiafoe - Munroe 2-6, 7-6, 6-2. The Canadians dropped serve at 4-2 and again at 5-3 in the second set. They also had a match point on Pospisil's serve in the second set tie-break. They also had a match point on Shapovalov 's serve in the second set tie-break. Memorable.
