Great result for Bester. Is he off to Saskatchewan next?

Re: Phil Bester

Apparently he's not - name not listed on the tourney acceptance list. I'd like to see him not push it, just back playing after an injury layoff. The 27 ranking points for winning will put him in the 480s for a ranking.

Re: Phil Bester

He pulls off what might be the biggest win of his career today over Mahut 6-4, 3-6, 6-1, amazing, great for Canadian tennis.

Re: Phil Bester

Second the sentiment. Mahut's level on a hard court than on grass is a notch if not two lower but still a great win. Watched the last set and he was cranking the winners. Winnable match next, against Ben Mitchell.

Re: Phil Bester

Can someone explain his injury situation, I know he barely played last year cause of either knee or back surgery, can't remember which exactly, came back and did play a bit though, has barely played this year too, played a tiny bit in March, hasn't played since until now, is it still the same injury he had surgery for that's bothering him is the reason for this, or has he been training, or something else?

Re: Phil Bester

He beat Ben Mitchell last week in three sets in the QF.

He had a fractured hand during his epic Davis Cup win in Ecuador, I can't remember the other details.

Yah I am curious too what specifically was the problems and if he is fully fit now ... As I wrote in another thread, we would still be toiling in America's zone play without Bester gutting out that win

I think with milos and vasek coming into form, if bester lost we still would have eventually made it to at least a world group playoff match, albeit a year later

You are forgetting a certain someone who has our biggest DC win ever, some guy called Frank.

Re: Phil Bester

Does anyone here think Phillip Bester can eventually crack top 200 at some point in his career? I always cuz of his constant injuries we never really get to see Bester's true peak form. I think he has potential to crack top 200.

i didn't forget frank. i said eventually we would have made it to the world group qualifiers with our young players. frank won that match against spain when we were already in the world group. frank is in his late twenties and not young like vasek and mills, thus i never mentioned him.

im the biggest frank fan there is out there and hope he is the 4th member of our DC semi final team. always had a soft spot for him

So you think even then that Vasek was a better DC player for us than Frank?
