Re: Vasek Pospisil

Too bad we had to suffer like that, but what a terrific win. He has really come on a whole long way on the mental front.

Youngest qualifier!

And Canada has 3 qualifiers, M and F (out of 6 going in) which is an excellent rate of success.

Re: Vasek Pospisil

Haas, Rochus and Young first round matches are probably the best chance to get through 2 rounds

Re: Vasek Pospisil

Stupid hurricane - I was supposed to go to this match, had to evacuate my apartment, and missed a third set breaker with Vasek coming out on top

While I'd love to see Frank vs. Vasek in R1, why do I get the feeling Frank draws Novak and Vasek Berdych?

In any event, phenomenal performance by Vasek in his first GS qualifying. Hopefully a sign of great things to come, and a great learning experience at a minimum

Stay safe. Hope it won't cause too much trouble.

Of course, I wish he gets someone that he has a decent chance against for the next round. If not, it wouldn't be the worst case to draw a big name and play on a show court.

Re: Vasek Pospisil

nice draw for Vasek, can see him beating Rosol if he's on his game, Lopez wouldn't be impossible either

Re: Vasek Pospisil

Let's take one match at a time.
I'm still so thrilled that he got through the qualifying in a grand slam for the first time.

Re: Vasek Pospisil

HUH!?!? Vasek managed to qualify? OMG!

That is awesome! I have to admit.. I never thought he'd be able to qualify but he's really come a long way these last couple of months. Won't be long now until we see him permanently on the ATP tour. First as a qualifier, but after a while hopefully as a solid player in the MD Should be nice if he can reach the top 100 too!

DELPO

Also supporting known chokers Verdasco, Lopez and Monaco

Oops meant to say first US Open qualies.

I have tickets for the first two days of the Open so depending on how the hurricane forces scheduling changes, I'll be at Vasek's match (unless he plays at the same time as Frank )

Was just thinking - if Frank and Vasek can finish the year strong, we could have three Canucks into the top 100. Amazing!

Nice thought, but it may be more realistic to hope for that sometime next year. Both have quite a few points to defend through the end of the year (88 for Vashy, 89 for Frank). I calculate that to reach the top 100, Vashy would need to win about 215 points and Frank 300 this fall (starting at the US Open MD as I have already given them the 35 for qualifying.)

So a pretty tall order.
