Re: Vasek Pospisil

Today's match was really frustrating and he could have/should have won in straights. He starts off so well and seems to either lose focus, tighten up or lose confidence. Some of his shots aren't smart, he does like to run around his backhand on the ad side and hit crosscourt forehand like Milos but he doesn't have the pace Milos does and ends up leaving the court open. And really, his backhand is a good, reliable shot, there is no need to run around it.

I hope he's working with a shrink. I don't know if he has enough killer instinct to reach a higher ranking.

Into the quarters of a World Tour event and facing Dodig. Decent chance in this one.

Re: Vasek Pospisil

Makes his first SF in a 500 event

Not the best quality match but he upped his game later in 2nd set and managed to serve out the match with his second MP. Partially thanks to Dodig.

First serve was way down but Dodig did nothing to his second serve today. Even managed to return his second serve into the net on the second MP.

Re: Vasek Pospisil

He almost got sucked down to Dodig's level with Dodig's passivie play, but he managed to take it in the end.

Go grab that AO seed Vasek.

What a treat to watch that match live. Vasek played so hard was scared he might cramp or get injured at the end as in past but the match was decided by so little. Vasek managed the crowd and his own off service day so well I was impressed - stadium was a library in the 3rd set when Vasek was frankly the better player for large stretches. Glad for Roger to make the final but Vasek should take so many positives from this week

Re: Vasek Pospisil

Given current Paris results (Granollers just lost in R32), it appears that he'll finish the season at #32. Great job by Vasek, just a little bit of improvement could pay huge dividends in 2014.

I'll be interested to see what he does...he lost so many matches that were clearly within his grasp, I just hope whatever it is he tries to do to overcome that problem doesn't mean giving up on any of the strengths he already brings to his best games.

But it would be impossible to characterize this year as anything other than a huge success. Congrats Vasek, and enjoy your time off!

“I had no physical issues,” Pospisil said. “I was just burned out mentally. I was not ready to fight, I’m very disappointed right now. It’s true I’ve had a great season but it’s disappointing to lose like that.”
No surprise here. Hopefully he doesn't look at a racquet for the next little while.

Re: Vasek Pospisil

Hopefully he'll need his own board, he has a great chance to move up the ranking until montreal,
It will be great having a second canadian to watch in all the big tournaments in 2014!

Right now he's seeded 5th, with the top 4 recieving byes.
Gonna be great having another canadian in the main draws!

Re: Vasek Pospisil

The sydney entry list has pospisil playing, so he'll be in chennai week 1 and sydney week 2, I guess he just can't wait to get in every tournament he can, can't say I blame him, and I don't see this as a bad thing, he has lots to gain in 250's early on in 2014, and likely gets a crazy tough draw at AO with his ranking, so more to gain in the 250's.
