Re: Peter Polansky
Where's he's been playing so well, Peter got a bit of a mental breather and still won today, over a guy who's not up to full-fledged challenger standard (David Rice). Next up is likely Donald Young, who he beat last week in three sets, I believe. Surely he can't keep up this streak much longer?
Peters run has been incredible. But what's more incredible is that's he's made three challenger finals in a row and is still not sniffing the top 100 or direct entry to the Australian Open - shows how far he had fallen. On the bright side after this result and potentially Champaign next week he has less than 50 points to defend for the first six months of next year
Prediction: Polansky hits the top 100 by Roland Garros. Little to defend during start of year. Struggled out of the gate last year with a nagging shoulder injury. Healthy start should mean another jump in the rankings after his great finish to the year
Winning start to the year for Polansky, 6-2, 6-4 over Gigougan, all 6 break points saved. Didn't see the match, but much stronger on serve according to the numbers, just as he was in his strong finish to 2013. Diez as well getting through to round of 16.
