Re: Peter Polansky

Polansky defends his title from last year so now he has two futures titles and a challenger title to defend from last year in the next month and a bit. I expect to see him as the top seed again in Canada in Canada F8.

Re: Peter Polansky

Yeah, looking at his point breakdown, I think it's that he'll pick up 19 points (add 27 for this win and lose 8 from last year's results); allowing him to be ranked 148 or 149, another career high. Will he play Canada F8 or be a hitting partner for the Davis Cup team?

Oh, I thought he won F7 last year. And true, he could be a hitting partner. His schedule this year has been very interesting.

Re: Peter Polansky

He did win Canada F7, but it was played later in the fall last year. He does have a fair number of points to defend inthe next 5, 6 weeks. If he does Davis Cup hitting this week, I think, if I remember right, he'll drop a few points next Monday too, maybe for last year's Canada F7.

Re: Peter Polansky

Peter's into the Mayfair Futures final after beating Milaj Pokrajac in 3 tough sets, 7-6, 6-7, 6-4.

Took a few shots and put them up on my blog. Hoping to write something in greater detail later on.

Re: Peter Polansky

i think its time he stopped playing futures and went back to challengers. His ranking looks good because he's been doing well but he's competing at the lowest level and i really think its enough now

Re: Peter Polansky

I don't have a problem with Peter playing canadian futures events, it's always nice to play at home, I don't blame him for choosing to play a futures event in his home country. The last one he played outside Canada was a while ago, before Rg to warm up for RG.

I think with his current ranking he's not intending on playing futures, but when a Canadian futures comes along I don't think there's anything wrong with him playing it

Canadian futures event in Toronto always. Isn't it? His girlfriend does live in Toronto, I wonder if that is a coincidence.

Re: Peter Polansky

I think he's playing Sacramento and Tiburon, so they are obvious stepping stones if he has aspirations of being in the top 100. I think he can do well there.

Re: Peter Polansky

Yeah, you can't blame him for playing at home, saving money while getting a few ranking points and a bit of cash. Hopefully he can make a few quarterfinals or better down south in these challengers.

Fair enough, but then why doesn't he sign up in the regular way and leave the WCs for someone who needs them?

I think(but I'm not sure) that if you're at a certain ranking you cannot sign up directly for a futures event, but instead you have to get a WC if they want you to play. I think that cutoff is 200 but again I'm not sure.

Same goes for challengers I believe, but obviously that ranking would be way higher, 32 I think it is
