Re: Peter Polansky

Yep well last man standing for Canadian qualifiers and definitely heading in the right direction so not a bad start to 2011. Next stop for him I believe is a challenger in Hawaii.

Saved set points in each set before going to deuce and then losing quickly

Re: Peter Polansky

So Peter loses in straight sets 6-4 6-2. I thought it would be a lot closer than it was. Oh well, he did good considering he barely even made the qualies cut off.

Re: Peter Polansky

At least he defended his points from last year and he has very little else to defend for the coming months.

Re: Peter Polansky

This is disapointing. I can't believe all of our canadian players lost to mugs, unreal. especially PLD.

Re: Peter Polansky

Uh well PLD is in fact not that great of a player, he had an alright year last year but his ranking is actually a bit inflated from that one tournament where he received a lot of points from a walkover and then a fluke win (sorry I cant remember the tournament's name).

EDIT: The tournament was ATP Winston Salem. PLD was bumped into the maindraw as a LL replacing a seed, got a bye in the first round, beat Ryan Harrison in the second round, lost in the third round and got a lot of points.

Re: Peter Polansky

any chance 15 players withdraw and Peter gets a LL?

if we're gonna go that far, just as well go a few more and take Vasek from the 2nd round of qualies

When was the last time that there were no canadian qualifiers in a grand slam, neither Male nor female? Seems like a while ago, I can't remember. I know rank qualifies for all 4 last year, and Peter qualified for 3/4 in 09 I think it was, did we have 1 in 2010 where nobody qualified?

Re: Peter Polansky

It's disappointing but only 1 in 8 people make it through qualies, so with 4 players we should have only a 50% chance of getting a qualifier, just based on averages. And we have beaten the averages in recent Slams.

Also on the women's side, we shouldn't complain too much - if we have no one qualifying it is more because we have 3 women direct into MD.

It sucked. Ideally, I wanted all four of them to qualify. It pisses me off that a guy like Carsten Ball beat Vasek. That guy has no talent, he's a total scmhuck. The same could be said about Andre Ghem. Isn't that something? They come in and each beat Vasek and PLD and then they go on to lose themselves. Like as if their purpose to go to Australia was to deny Vasek, PLD a chance to qualify, instead of qualifying for themselves. Vasek and PLD's losses disapointed me more than Peter and Erik's losses. Cuz with Erik and Peter, those two guys were facing much more experienced and higher calibred players. Their losses were more understandable. As PLD and Vasek, they faced mugs who were less talented than them.

Right when PLD lost and Vasek too, I would go down to Australia to interview Ball and Ghem and ask them what their purpose in Australia was.

And then they would say, "to mug things up for the Canadian players"

And then I ask how long they would stay in Australia.
And then they reply, "We're finished here in Australia. We came here for what we came for, we beat those Canadian players, and now we're off to somewhere else."
And they will say it so non chalantly.

Re: Peter Polansky

If its a consolation, Peter would have drawn Simon in R1, and we all know he wouldn't win that match

Re: Peter Polansky

Yeah, better than if he would've had some amazing draw where he could've potentially won a few rounds, I guess.

Here have some crappy phone photos because I'm an idiot who forgot my camera
