Polansky qualifies for the main draw beating Rowe in straight sets.

Re: Peter Polansky

If Peter is interested in playing the AO qualies, he would likely need a SF result to get in(unless he plans on playing futures events after this, not sure what his plan is). That would get him up to around 281(just based on adding those points to his current points and seeing where that gets him) and the cutoff to AO qualies last year was 287. a win over Vasek gets him around 299, and likely wouldn't be enough

Re: Peter Polansky

I have a weird feeling that Peter is going to counterpunch his way to a victory today.

They both desperately need the win though (Vasek for points, Pete for confidence) so may the best player win!

Re: Peter Polansky

peter won today 4-6, 6-3, 6-4

disappointing for vasek, no diect entry into AO however in the grand scheme of things this is a much better result, peter is back on track and, i think can make AO qualies now

Re: Peter Polansky

Guess I was right

Very happy for Peter, but qualies in the AO for Vasek - not great. Though this sets him up nicely to pull a Milos - strong late summer/autumn results followed by a breakout at the AO

Draw is wide open on the bottom - and possibly PLD next!

Re: Peter Polansky

So PLD lost to a qualifier, so Peter will face qualifier John Patrick Smith from Australia.

Re: Peter Polansky

Yes, he was a top junior, won the NCAA's as a freshman, the same thing Isner and Devvarman won as seniors and parlayed into top 100 careers.

He and Peter have actually played twice in the last month. Peter won their first meeting in the final 76 in the 3rd and lost their second meeting in straight sets in the SF the week after.

Re: Peter Polansky

If Peter can win, he would get Kuznetsov in the semis which would also be probably 50/50.

Re: Peter Polansky

if he wins, then he'd be borderline to get in AO qualies, this is the only upside to him beating Vasek(and denying Vasek a AO DE), if Peter were to lose today, it would be a complete downer
