Re: Peter Polansky

I just don't understand why he should play futures. So he can get 17 points for 5 matches? At this point in his career, what is the point of that?

Re: Peter Polansky

For me it all depends on how he is doing.

I don't think right now he can go out and get past the 2nd round in a Challenger! I think start next year off with a new start and take on the Challengers.

Well with his ranking, he would play 3 qualifying matches at the challenger level and only get 3 to 5 points so 17 points for 5 matches doesn't sound bad to me.

Re: Peter Polansky

Peter takes the title in Venezuela taking down the number 1 seed 6-1 6-3 in the final!

Should be ranked around 410 next week.

That's true, but the instant his ranking is high enough, its back to challengers, which should be for the start of next year, not a few weeks into the year.

You get 27 points for a 15K futures win that is about the same as a semi in a 50k challenger where you get 29.

Re: Peter Polansky

Anyone can make numbers look the way they want I guess kyle, but in reality most futures are 10k which give 18 points for the winner. Challengers are all over the map however between 50k and 125k. The lowest level of challenger gives 14 points for a 2n round match. Pretty comparable to a futures 10k.

Re: Peter Polansky

but this Venezuela futures was a 15K so we should be comparing the challengers to a 15k not 10k

I'm not discussing about this week or next week, that's obvious, Im arguing with the people that say he should start next year playing futures.

I dont see any reasons why he would start the year playing futures?

Huge difference in level between futures and challengers and if he wants to get to the atp tour where i think he can get to, he will need to progress threw the challenger circuit at a level that will challenge him also there just isnt enough points to progress to the mid 100s threw the futures

Re: Peter Polansky

I think the point was that he shouldn't play challengers until he gets direct entry as 5 wins in a 15k future will get you around the same number of points that 6 wins in a 50k challenger will get you if you have to play qualies. No doubt once he gets back into the 200's he should be consistently p-laying challengers again
