Our other thread has reached the max posts for a thread on MTF (5000) so we will start a new one.

Here is a link to the old one.
http://www.menstennisforums.com/showthread.php?t=5037

We can either keep this second thread or see if they will allow us to get a subform for Canadian players like many other countries have (which they may not allow).

What do you guys think?

I'm sorry, but Dancevic back to form?!?! Isn't he still ranked around, like, 300? That is not very good imo. I know he's trying to come back from injury, but he's been "trying" for way too long now.

Our best hope I think is to get a subforum for Milos. He is only getting more and more popular here on MTF, and he's getting better and better too. Won't be too long before he cracks the Top 100 :)

i bet you just jinxed that now

i know frank will be back, he just needs a draw where he can get himself going instead of having to play those seeded players in the first round all the damn time:mad:

but yeah i think, if asia who really only currently has nishikori deserves a sub forum then canada sure as hell does

We need a sub-forum. Consistently around 20 Canadians (and honorary Canadian Sokk :worship:) of us post in here. There are others who show up for commentary on Dancevic and Polansky, and I bet a lot more will start looking for Raonic.

Frankly Berankis and Dimitrov have their own threads... so does Dustin Brown! I think Milos needs his own too :)

if you want me to i'll start one

just wasnt sure what he meant because rycka doesnt have what grigor does.even though i think he deserves one

if im right and getting a thread like grigor has takes popularity+ accomplishment and by that i mean challenger win then milos will have to wait.

#11 ·
Huh? how can challenger wins trump winning ATP matches? And if you're worried about popularity, well, I agree that Grigor is more popular than Milos, now. But I've noticed Milos getting more and more fans. People seem to generally like him and comment on his matches in GM. I think he will get more fans and be more popular eventually when he wins more ATP matches, which I'm sure he will! :)

#12 ·
how the hell should i know how that trumps it? thats just my theory i really have no idea how they decide who gets a thread.

i would guess, like i said accomplishment+populairty+interest and activity in the players thread.

if it wasnt true than rycka would have a thread of his own aswell.

#13 ·
Sorry if I sounded rude, that wasn't my intention.

I agree with you. I think they decide on the progress a player makes and his popularity and how many fans he's got. I think that's why Grigor got his own subforum. He's popular and winning lots of matches. Not saying he doesn't deserve it. I think he does, and I'm not even a fan. And I don't think Milos has quite reached his level yet, but like I said, I think Milos is progressing just fine. And I think people will notice him more when he wins more matches. He'll get his own subforum eventually. I'm just glad he has his own thread now. At least that's something ;)

I read 4 courts would be live streamed

As for the subforum

Once the Aussie Open is finished we will be opening up the polling process again for new forums to be added - you can request one at that time and we'll look into it and see if activity justifies the creation of a new forum :)

yeah, I definately agree, we need a sub-forum.:yeah:

Q draw soon, hope the canadians all get good draws, but especially Milos, Peter, Frank, and Philip...whoops that's all of them:lol:

I see I am going against the flow here, but I like having a single thread for all the Canadians. It makes one-stop shopping for us, which is convenient, and it has a nice equalizing effect as all the players have the same claim to notice. (I know we do have the separate thread for Dancevic, but it seems like we often end up posting on his progress here as it easier to put all the updates in one place).

AO Qualifying draw is out, and for once I really love the draws the canadians got.

Milos should qualify easily in my mind
Frank should as well, he got a dream draw I think, both the seeds in his section are off their game, and not really any scary unseeded players there
Peter's draw is decent, he would face a very tricky 3rd round opponent no matter who he would play really, but he got a favorible opener, and i can see him beating Huta Galung if he plays well
Bester's draw is nice as well, not expecting him to qualify, tough opener with Massu but he's older now, so definately beatable.

All in all I'm more than pleased:D

Aussie Open qualy draw is out

http://www.australianopen.com/en_AU/scores/draws/qs/index.html

I really like Frank's draw (for once) - I think getting by Chiudinelli is very feasible. Ungur in the first round is a dream match-up.

Milos came out pretty well too - I think his first match against Goffin is the trickiest. But Niland is beatable. He should be the favorite to come out of this section.

Bester plays Massu in round 1 and dont know what to expect there. But even if he wins, beating Kravchuk and possibly Bolelli is a tough draw.

I think Peter has the worst draw though. Cabal in the first round is beatable, but its probably Huta Galung in round two. I dont see Peter getting past him.

Unfortunately no Canucks drew a big name and/or Aussie, so I'm not confident we'll get to see any livestreams. Lets see.

milos - goffin is probably one of the worst first rounds a seeded player could have gotten. We have seen how good he can be when he took wawrinka to his limit just a while ago. I would not put it past goffin to upset milos and it will certainly be his toughest match. There are some tricky other guys but, like i said in the milos thread no one else he should lose to.

peter - not a very nice draw, should get past the first round but hutta galung in the second round is tough. If he gets to the final round my pick for who he'll play is kuznetsov, who can beat anyone else in the draw when he's on. I dont really see peter qualifying but we'll see

philip - in what he could have gotten he did get a very nice draw and he could beat massu but i just dont see him qualifying.

frank - are you kidding me? how happy am i with this draw? frank qualifies 100% sure

If I'm Milos, I'd rather get Goffin in the 1st round than the 3rd round of qualifying. Goffin is certainly talented but lets see how he follows up the Chennai result. Maybe he's a guy like Frank who plays well at the ATP level and then cant find his form in qualies :wavey:

So typical.. All the Canadians getting awful draws. I feel so bad for Milos. He's trying so hard to make it, but it isn't exactly easy when he always get the most difficult draws :(

Oh well, I wish all the Canadians good luck anyway.. hopefully one of them wills surprise us and qualify!

Do you know when the qualifying rounds start?

#37 ·
I don't have a lot to add to what you guys have said; Frank should get to the final round at least, but Chiudinelli is a tough potential opponent; Peter is in tough, and I think he'll lose second round; Milos' toughest match is the first one, if he beats Goffin he should qualify, and Phil got a relatively good draw, though I suspect he'll lose to Massu.

It's a shame one of the others didn't get Phil's draw, I don't think that's a very strong section at all.
