Re: Canadian Players 2

This might be about him.

We are excited to introduce Ryan Chow as the Head Tennis Professional for the 2012 season.
Ryan brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the club from his lifelong participation in tennis. He was first introduced to the game by his family growing up in the Beaches, and then went on to play college tennis in the U.S. During college Ryan helped his team reach the final 16 at the National Championships, earning him the All-Conference Player Award in both singles and doubles. He has also traveled on the Futures Circuit (the first tier of professional tennis) qualifying for main draw singles and doubles events.
Ryan has extensive experience improving the tennis skills of all ages and is excited to share his knowledge of the game with Leaside’s members. He holds a Coach 1 certification and is currently enrolled in Tennis Canada’s third level, Club Pro 2 course. In the past two years, Ryan has attended two Progressive Tennis seminars where he has learned the leading method for teaching children, and has since implemented the progressive tennis method as a physical education program in schools. He has held the positions as Head Tennis Professional at Yellowknife Tennis Club and Assistant Tennis Professional for the Wanaka Tennis Club in New Zealand. Ryan has worked with the TTA for the past 3 years, and recently worked with the Ontario National Training Centre’s Under9 and under10 programs alongside several of Canada’s top coaches. In January 2012, Ryan was a co-planner of the successful charity event, “Carnival on the Courts”, hosted by the Fitness Institute North York.
Ryan looks forward to meeting the Leaside members and helping them enjoy their game. Here's to a successful season and see you soon!

Ochotta lost today 7-6, 5-7, 6-2, looks like it was a good effort though and could be one to watch for the future.

We also have 4 players in the top 150. At the beginning of 2011, just a bit more than 2 years ago, we had no players in the top 150.

Re: Canadian Players 2

Just saw that Colombian Robert Farah was born in Montreal. Does anyone know how long he lived here?
(Born in Canada, played college in the US, lives in the US and plays for Colombia...)

Re: Canadian Players 2

Canadian seeds in qualifying for Canada F1 took a hit. Jecminek, Dan Chu, and Ochotta all lost in the second round. Chvojka (a late entry, WC), Martin Beran, Phil Anderson, and Alexander Day only Canucks left, all play today for a spot in main draw.
