Personally, I dont subscribe to the view that all wildcards need to be exclusively for Canadians. I think Tomic's recent run at Wimbledon - as well as Milos' run in the Aussie - shows there is real value in making up and coming guys tough out the qualies and prove they belong. Ask Donald Young. For this reason I do agree with you, however, that as far as qualy wildcards are concerned, all of them should be for Canadians.
I always feel split on this point, I agree and disagree. I think that the major difference between the Canadian guys and guys like Tomic or Young is that this is basically a once-a-season thing for them. It's not like they won't have to go through the grind of qualys and earn their place, as they'll be there the other 51 weeks of the year, where players like Young and Tomic can potentially get a lot of WCs. At the same time, Milos' big breakthrough came when he was in the qualies, so maybe it would make sense.
I figure that a wildcard for Phil will hang on whether Hewitt wants one, unless Bester, like, wins a fifth rubber to send us to WG PO.
