Re: Canadian Players 2

Duclos should probably get the an SE for Winnetka.

Sorry about that misinformation about Souza return points. Played better then I thought.

Re: Canadian Players 2

Either PLD retired at 7-7 in the second set TB or he has made it to his first career Challenger final! The scoreboard got stuck at 7-7 and now the match is gone with the next match up so I'm guessing he won. Score was 7-5 7-6.

I'm pretty sure this guarantees his SE for next week's challenger. I wasn't sure before since the Winnetka qualy draw isn't out yet so I thought they might still make him play qualies if he had lost today. I'm guessing if he's still planning to play Winnetka he'll get in with the SE now. What a week it's been for PLD!

Did anyone see this coming? Man he was just as bad as Peter this year and then boom. I guess that LL game him a kick in the rear end. Hopefully Peter is next to get out of his funk.

Re: Canadian Players 2

A few of the NTC guys(and girls) were playing in a big open tournament in Quebec this week. the level is pretty good, since there are former pros such as Philip Gubenco and Mattew Akman, and other very solid players like Julien Gauthier, Kéziel Juneau, Jean-François Bérard, Nick Savage-Pollock,etc. Di Feo, Monette, Trkulja were the NTC guys that were there. Trkulja lost by walkover in the Quarterfinals, where he was set to play Monette. He had beaten Savage-Pollock before that. Both Di Feo and Monette lost to Gubenco, Hugo in the quarters and Sam in the Semis.

I personnally think it is good for the juniors players to play these types of tournaments once in a while, because they get to play some pretty good players, and even though the level is lower than futures of ITFs, they get some wins, and the gameplay is different than in the juniors. (by the way, they also had some of the girls play in the qualifying of this tournament...)

PLD gets his SE to Winnetka next week. He plays Raven Klassen in the first round. Possible second round match with Brian Dabul.

how did the girls fair?

i think PLD lost 7-5, 6-1 to paul capdeville in the final. The scoreboard has been stuck for a while but paul was up 40-0 and 5-1

Re: Canadian Players 2

He lost 75 61. Still 60 points this week is great for him and his first challenger final, out of no where really.

Peter Polansky
Nestor - Chvojka - Pospisil - Raonic - Peliwo

Elisabeth Abanda and Elianne Douglas-Miron both were in the qualifying. Abanda won a round easily and went down 63-60 to the sixth seed, a junior from quebec. Douglas-Miron had a bye, won her second round in a very tough match, and lost (in the final qualifying round) to the fourth seed in three sets: 67-76-57. Actually Valerie Tetreault was in the main draw, and she lost in the first round to DiFeo 64-60.

Re: Canadian Players 2

Great to see such a positive result from Duclos

Speaking of Quebec tennis, I was on the same flight as Stephanie Dubois back from London today. Of all the people, somehow I was in line behind her - what are the odds. She's hot in person - wish I had said something
