Re: Frank Dancevic

Frank gets qualifier Ilhan, definitely one I think he should win. Then potentially Nieminen/Verdasco.

I think Frank's the best qualifier by a fair margin. Obviously he doesn't have any form, that's the big question about whether he can make a run, along with his mental game, especially after his loss to Mello. If he can get that together, though, I think he's in a different class than Ilhan.

Frank isn't anything special for a long time. (like 3 years) Marsel is clearly better player and should win it in four sets at the worst.

Re: Frank Dancevic

Is it bad that I could see Ilhan winning? Yeah, I agree that Frank SHOULD win, but SHOULD winning is not exactly the same as winning, now is it?

I honestly have no idea in this match.. it could go either way imo. Ilhan is a good player and Frank hasn't exactly been good lately, so..

CLEARLY the better player? Would you be saying this if Marsel was Greek or Egyptian and not Turkish - no of course not But I love Turkey and the Turkish people so I'm going to hope that Marsel plays a nice match against Frank and has a very good rest of 2011

Look it should be a good match. Frank is the more TALENTED of the two players by a wide margin as Blarghman said, and more experienced, but as we all know he doesn't always display that talent. And even if he does, the Mello match at Wimbledon shows he can still choke. Ilhan can clearly beat him - no question - it will simply be a case of which of the two players plays their game better.

Frank used to get horrible draws - the last two grand slams he's got very lucky (though I would have preferred he draw Dasnieres de Veigy or Niland than Ilhan). This is really time for Frank to secure a result and get some serious ATP points. Qualifying for all four slams and then not winning one MD match would be disappointing while still a great accomplishment.

Depending on how the hurricane plays out, I have tickets for the first two day sessions so I will definitely be at Frank's match if play doesnt get postponed until later in the week

Re: Frank Dancevic

Dancevic will win in straights or 4 sets. Unfortunately my top 100 at the end of the year prediction doesn't seem like it will come true, though

But this one will. Both can serve very effectively, but Frank's is that much better. He also can do more things on the court, and has more weaponry from the baseline.

Re: Frank Dancevic

He was struggling with the back for a while, during Wimbledon also, correct? A fully fit Frank would have beaten Mello.

Frank was up two sets to nothing and served for the match in the 3rd and then had match points in the 4th and choked. It was the worst choke of his career - nothing to do with an injury, just a pure choke. He was in complete control

i have to love how youir so confident in your predictions even though your only right about 50% of the time..which is still a good rate but i dont think the outcome is as clear as you think

Djokovic's half starting Monday but i can't see Frank vs. Marsel on Monday. So, they will play Tuesday exactly. I am really looking for your reports, please watch it.

So, i just said "RIGHT NOW" Marsel is clearly better player and it's not about his being Turkish player. Dancevic had great GS qualies but if we look at his season, he's really sucking. He didn't played since Wimbledon and lost a set to Wolmarans and Klahn. On the other hand, Marsel found some form, qualified for Cincinnati and US Open without losing a set and beated Devvarman, Schoorel and Lacko in that period. Also his favourite tournament is US Open and when he lost to Tomic last year in the first round of qualifying there he was crying. His breakout performance came in US Open too (qualified and made R64 in 2009 when he was ranked at 231)

Surely, Dancevic is more talented player. He has better serve and more exprienced. He had ATP tour finals and was playing some great tennis but that's history. Right now, Dancevic is just serving better than Marsel. Marsel is clearly better from baseline, so i don't agree with flyboy there. Dancevic uses net well also but Marsel isn't bad at serving and volleying too.

I'd very surprised if Marsel loses this match. We will see.
