I watched parts of the match on a livestream at http://www.fromsport.com/
- for future reference the site often has the relevant links, at least in the bigger tournies. My impression of the first set was that both were serving rather poorly for the most of the time, and Frank starting out with a rather lackadaisical style and spraying shots widely. I was wondering what his strategy was for actually winning points, but then things suddenly starting to go in, and he was running around energetically and using his backhand not only esthetically but also actually effectively. It wasn't clear to me that Fish was wholly responsible for the set getting away from him.
Fish started serving much, much better in the second set, whereas Frank showed he can be relied upon to have at least one really poor service game per set. He was lucky to get away with a respectable final scoreline, as it was looking bad in the last set when he was down 2 breaks and couldn't find a 1st serve.
Anyway, a great tournament for Frank and hopefully it will inspire him to great things in the coming weeks.
