Re: Frank Dancevic

Newport draw released today, Frank is up against Sergiy Stakhovsky (ranked 90) in round one, with Oli Rochus potentially next. He has a good draw, will have a nice shot at defending his points here.

Yeah, a decent draw for Frank, hopefully he can have a good run

Frank is still waiting to play

He should be up at 1045 tomorrow morning, and weather should be better in Newport. Should he win, he'd play his R2 match later in the day.

Re: Frank Dancevic

Oh, Frank.

Wasn't broken the entire match until he was serving at 5-6 in the third set. Lost 76 26 75. He'll drop well out of the top 100 now after losing all those points.

A really bad choke down the stretch, especially since he had a couple of break points at 5-5*.

Yeah, he'll take a big ranking hit, and lose his chance to avoid USO qualies

Re: Frank Dancevic

So much for building on Eastbourne - follows that up with two very pedestrian first round losses.

Oh well, still super excited to see him play (and practice if I can track him down) in Montreal. Indianapolis qualifying up next for him I assume..?

Re: Frank Dancevic

Good thing Frank skipped Davis Cup for that

Its inevitable at this point that Polansky will be the top Canadian player by the end of the year. Frank has never been able to build on solid results and become a consistent player, and I doubt that will happen now that his ranking wont allow him to do anything but enter challengers and qualifiers this summer.

Re: Frank Dancevic

Yeah it seems Frank has two or three good weeks a year, sandwiched by long strings of first round losses. He definitely he has the talent to be a top 50ish player but I think, realistically, he will hover around the 100-150 mark for the rest of his career.

But I haven't been following his career because I expect him to win a bunch of tournaments, I just love the way he plays tennis.
